and I should be able to find the answer but am strapped for time so I'm hoping somebody can help me? I received a book in the mail today and could have sworn I had ordered it as part of a 2 for 1 or 3 for 1 deal but can't remember and all I received was the one book. Unfortunately I deleted all my old pm's. How can I find the old post or old pm that was deleted? I found a transaction archive but it told me nothing. Thanks for any help.

did you check searching the forum.  Box at the top of the forums says search forums.  If you put in your nickname it should come up with your posts.  I know I post on the forum thread when I do a deal.  So people know what books are taken.  Hope this helps.

What could have happened is the request didn't go to the right person when you ordered, it timed out without being marked mailed and so passed on to another sender or you had rcs that were declined and it passed it on to anothe requestor.  That 2nd person would have no idea about a deal you made with the 1st person.  I had this happen to me once but luckily I caught it before it and was able to cancel the 2nd request.  The 1st person forgot to mark it mailed.

I would do as Angela suggested and search your nickname in the forum posts. See if you can find the thread where the deal was and you posted your selected freebies.

Also did you know that PMS are kept on 2 lists.  I had been deleting my to me pms and then noticed there was a From Me selection. I clicked on that and most of the pms I though I had deleted were still there because I had made a reply.  So I had like 1000 of them in the from me tab.  It might be there unless you were deleting those as well.

Did you send a PM and post in the bazaar forum? You might be able to trace back in the bazaar forum. Are you positive you ordered from the poster's bookshelf? I think once the PMs are deleted they are gone. Also, if your original order timed out, your request would have gone to the next in line (FIFO).

Always save your PMs regarding bazaar orders until you get the book(s) in the mail; watch your order to make sure the book doesn't time out if the poster doesn't respond/mail on time. And be sure that you are ordering directly from the poster's bookshelf. If you click on a book to read a description, you are put into the system's FIFO.

I hope I've answered some of your questions. Good luck.

I wonder if you ordered the book from the general book listing, in which case it went to FIFO, instead of ordering directly from the person's mailbox. Good luck getting this worked out.

I sent the poster a pm, hopefully will hear from her but she hasn't been on since the 19th(I think?). If not, I'll respond to the original post and maybe you guys can help me make sense of it, because as usual, I'm clueless. I thought I did it right but who knows?

Well darn, I got a reply from the person who sent me the book and they were totally unaware of the deal or book bazaar post. :(

I wouldn't have ordered the book had it not been for such a great deal. How disappointing that I must have messed up somehow.

Oh well, I've gotten so many great deals from here I guess I shouldn't complain.

Did the book actually come from them?  You could have ordered the book from the description page and the system put it to FIFO.

Some people only come onto PBS if they have an email telling them they have a PM, a book order or a WL offer. Otherwise they don't bother.

by the sender for some reason, then the book you requested from her goes to the next person on the FIFO list, and you will receive only the requested book.

I had this happpen to me the other day. I had requested 2 books from a Book Bazaar offer, and was supposed to receive 2 books for free. A couple days after we clinched the deal, she wrote to tell me that she had to cancel my requests because her children had spilled a bevereage on my stack of books, or something like that. I quickly checked my requests and, sure enough, one of my books was placed on my reminder list (not a problem) BUT the other book request had been passed on to a third party. Thankfully, I was able to cancel that request before it was approved, but, honestly, it was just luck that I was able to catch it in time, or even aware that this could possibly happen. I suspect this is what happened to you.

If at all possible, contact the person you made the original deal with, and ask her what happened, and let her know that her method of cancelling wasn't fair to you. Maybe she'll accept responsibliity for your receiving an unwanted lone book, and offfer you a credit. Probably not, but at least you could help some future sucker who makes a deal with her . . .

Cindi, I think this might have been what happened, I'm not sure. It didn't appear to be the same person who posted  in the bazaar forum when I pm'ed her but I figured they might not want to use their real name or even city. But this person had no clue what I was talking about so I assumed the order went to someone else. :( I didn't see that the original poster cancelled my order and didn't notice that it was timed out or anything. I usually am here every day and didn't notice anything telling me that but the order did seem to 'sit there' for awhile. So I'm guessing that's what happened. Is there a way to prevent that from happening automatically? All the months I've participated here, this is the first real disappointment I've had. Now I have to build my credit supply back up again and get over it. :)

Thanks everybody~

it's a bummer, Maureen, but I don't think there is any foolproof way to ensure it doesn't happen on some other deal. When you work another deal, you can try including a message to the senders you work with to ask them to please not cancel deals, but to allow you to cancel, if it becomes necessary. That would help, anyways. . .

I had something similar happen, I had ordered a deal but have a no smoking household (current) and they cancelled the orders without having the courtesy to tell me.  How hard would it be to reply to a PM and say, hey I smoke so I can't send the order or whatever?!

so my orders passed into the FIFO system.  I was bummed but such is life.  I now know to inquire first if they are a smoking household before I order anything from the bazaar.

Thanks everybody

I don't have any requestor's conditions so I know it wasn't that. I think I'll pm the original poster and see what happened. Sometimes ya just gotta know, ya know? :)

Live and learn, and I'm always learning here.

Thanks again :)
