all summer I've had trouble going to my TBR list and marking books with stars to add to my BIR list.   Seems whether I rate using the stars first or click the BIR first, the system always gives me the msg "you must first rate the book in order to add to your BIR".  So I click on the stars again and get the msg again.  If the stars turn yellow, I should be good to go, right?  Why does it not want to add to my BIR?

You don't have to click the button to add a book to the BIR list, rating the book automatically puts it on that list and trying to put the book on the list without rating it will not work. The button is kind of useless except in cases where you have ranked books and removed them from your BIR list and now want them back there. Just click on the star rating and ou should be good to go.

Jeanne, don't click the BIR button at all.  Just rate the book 1 thru 5 stars and the book will automatically be added to your Books I've Read list.

ETA:  Dang it, Melody beat me to it!  ;-)

the BIR button might be leftover from before we had to rate books to have them on the list.
