I have a book on my bookshelf someone put on hold. I had just sent as a freebie, and hadn't taken it off yet. But I really thought I did. Anyway, how do I handle this or contact the requestor.

Another question, when deleting books, can you delete as many as you want on one page or do I have to do each separately. I thought I read it to do separately. If that is the case, I have a real problem. Because when I check off freebies on my page, say page 1, I do them altogether.

Please, someone let me know...

I feel bad with refusing to send something I do not have.

Thanks Jeanne

You can PM me also.

If someone has requested a book from you that you no longer have than just decline the request.  If you are running a deal, you need to ask them to cancel the request (you might have to accept first) so it doesn't get passed on to someone else.  They may have only ordered the book because of the deal and the next person is not obligated to offer a deal. I think you have to check mark the books for deletion on one page at a time.  I think when you click to the next page it'll delete the checks you made.

You can delete one page at a time, but you don't have to do it one book at a time.

Thanks for the your answers. But the one problem is on my bookshelf next to the book ,I no longer have, is that  exclamation point , that puts it on hold, nstead of the little Box, which says pending till another member's wish list. I think they have 48 hours. Am I right?

Any way thanks.

I think so (could perhaps happen if someone had requested a copy earlier and that went missing).

Just wait it out either the person will request it within 1 hour, within 48 hours, or cancel, then you can

either cancel with an apology or just delist it if they canceled.

If the book was on your shelf then it couldn't be put on someone's WL. They would have to order the book.  Then it would go into 1hr buyers remorse hold.  If it was a WL book to begin with then it shouldn't have been posted if you're sending it out as a freebie.  The system will automatically offer a WL book to the 1st person in line when it's posted. If it is a WL book, you need to decline the request so they don't lose their place in the WL line.

Mary, please don't think me dense. I have been on here I think since September, and thought I had a grasp on everything.

Anyway,  this is a book just posted and was grabbed as a freebie instantly. What I am trying to say is, there is no way that I know how to decline it until they actually request it. I can't get past the  !  . Maybe what you are saying, I am not just getting and I am sorry. Like I said I really am not dense. I guess I will just have to have it played out.

But thank you are being patient and replying to my questions. Just when I think I know I have it all, something new pops up. Almost sounds like the remark Michael made in Godfather III, " Just when I 'm out, they pull me back in" . LOL.

Thanks for your time.

You'll have to wait til your account page gives you the option to cancel However, if you were running a deal and that person is taking advantage of the deal, pm them and ask them to cancel from their end so it doesn't go to the next in the FIFO; otherwise cancel when you can. there's a 1 hour 'buyer's remorse' where you're stuck in limbo. also happens when you post a wishlisted book.

when you're on your bookshelf page you clicke the boxes of what you wnt to delete then click delete..as many as you want. doesn't work for the exclamation mark stuff unfortunately...

I just figured it out. Under my account page there is a tab that says Books on Hold. And under there I was able to PM the member. I guess it was there and never noticed.

But thanks to  everyone was so kind  to respond.

To quicken the waiting. you can PM the person who had the book on wishlist hold and ask them to please accept and that you will then cancel.  YOu can expain that you no longer have the book.  If they accept and YOU cancel, they keep their current place in line on the wishlist.
