When Jennifer Gardner returns home with her young daughter seven years after she left pregnant, she hopes to make a fresh start with her minister father. Unfortunately, the past keeps creeping up on her in the form of Neal Cain, her old love and the boy who went to prison after accidentally killing his best friend in a fight out of jealousy over her. The Prodigal's Return (3), by Anna DeStefano, is a pleasant read -- if just a bit predictable. The story is a good depiction of life in a small town.
