I just changed a setting on the blue box above my bookshelf.

I noticed the box that said Profile and clicked on it.  There it is what I wrote about myself.  There also a big note that said tthis is not what others see.

What in the world do others see if not my public profile?

I think that means that what others see isn't all that you see.  You can make some things private to different degrees.

You can make your books mailed, your town,  and forum posts private or public.  Lots of settings choices.  There should be a button to view the public version.

ETA.  And your bookshelf header is different than your profile.  Can have one on and one off as well.

When you are looking at it there, there are some other things showing that are not showing necessarily in your public profile. The very nice write up you did on yourself is showing :)

To see your bookshelf as others do, either click on the bookshelf button by your name here (and click the nickname to get to your profile) as we see them.

Also, when looking at your bookshelf, under the Bookshelf tab in your Main Account page, there is a button there to see your public bookshelf.

Thanks everyone, it just seemed strange to see the statment.  I thought maybe I had clicked a privacy button in error!

ETA, Thanks Sherry for the compliment.

Can't type this morning!

Thanks for mentioning the blue box above your bookshelf. I did not know we could post a type of profile or a statement above our bookshelf. I have now done that. Thanks !
