Preferably where the heroine is the one needed protection and the hero is FBI or US Marshal or something.

Just wondering if anyone knows of  books with this plot line.  I'm not hugely into the little series romances but I might consider one.

I'm not a big Suzanne Brockmann fan but I agree with JenInVt about BODYGUARD. I read it to get it out of a bookcase and gave it to a co-worker - I'm sorry now because it was GREAT and should have gone on the keeper shelf.

I read a Silhouette Intimate (now called Romantic Suspense) OR a Harlequin Intrigue (a trilogy), the heroine is under protective custody but dang me if I can remember the author or title.

Alison Kent's newest Harlequin Blaze (ONE GOOD MAN) has this plot. Heroine was sole survisor of a killing spree, 10 years have gone by and one day a Texas Ranger (yum) shows up at her doorstep to put her into his protection while he hunts down the killer.

I know I've read more, but they're mostly category romances; I'm still playing catch-up with the romantic suspense "big books".
