I just received a book today and it has pages punched--about 50 pages at the beginning at the edge of the page. I think although I'm not sure that it may have been done by a used bookstore. In the middle of the book, there are a bunch of pages punched at the top. I can tell that some of the pages in the beginning are missing parts of words because of this punch.

This is the first book I've received like this, and I'm thinking I should mark it received with a problem? I did check all the guidelines and couldn't really find anything about punched pages but I'm guessing it's not acceptable?

i would mark it RWP--it does not seem like this is a postable book.

Thank you. My gut feeling was that it shouldn't have been posted. I'm not overly upset about or anything. I know I can pass it on to a friend who likes similar books and she will get a reading out of it before it winds up in the trash or in a nursing home she visits. At least I can read it!

It sounds unpostable to me, especially since words were punched out.

Maybe the last owner was having a party, needed confetti and was short on paper????

as some other posts have suggested I'd contact the sender for my credit back if you want it back before you mark it RWP...just a recommendation to more likely get your credit if that is your desire.

It was a very strange punch--almost reminded me of the kind of punch you'd get from a conductor on a train ticket.

I've picked up books at tag sales before and never read them.  Maybe PM them and let them know just as a courtesy.

I would mark the book received with a problem.  Send a PM to the sender, and ask for your credit back.

How odd.  I hope you get your credit back.

I just got  a book with lots of highlighting in it.  I PM'd her to remind her that highlighting is frowned upon and makes the book unpostable.  From her response I don't think she knew the rules.  I didn't ask for my credit back because  I got the book to pass on to a friend and didn't intend to repost it anyway.  The highlighting doesn't really bother me.  She was very nice and said she would be more careful in the future.
