Native American Diana Jackman learned to track deer as a child from her shaman father. To shake off the depression of his recent suicide, Diana leads a group of rich hunters on a trip into British Columbia after whitetail deer--only to discover that someone is hunting the hunters. When two members of the group are killed and gutted, it's up to Diana to use her skills and her anger to track down a crafty, crazed murderer. Mark Sullivan's descriptions of the stark landscape and the details of the hunt add greatly to the book's growing terror.

Very engrossing book. Suspense book with the hero in very physically and mentally challenging journey. Unusual in that the hero is a woman, there is no man protecting or guiding her.

Diana Jackson has retunred to the natural world revered by her Native American ancestors. Leaving her job, her family, her life behing in search of her lost soul and self, she has joined a small party of sportsmen and women in the snowbound isolation of British Columbia. Brutal death has followed them to this place of cold, white silence. And for the first time in her life, Diana will know the terror of the hunt....as the hunted. Very strong character. Mark T. Sullivan has a way with describing the scenes with almost poetic adjectives. Very good, I was really surprised how much I enjoyed this book. A very underrated author.

They are a thousand miles from civilization. But they are not alone. Brutal death has followed them to this place of cold, white silence. And for the first time in her life, Diana will know the terror of the hunt..as the hunted.

Deep in the heart of nowhere, Diana Jackman wonders about her decision of leaving the comforts of her world to go on a soul searching journey. What she didn't bargain for was to become soemone else's prey.
