I have some WL books that I bought at the bookstore this weekend.  Unlike most people, I like having my TBR books on my Bookshelf on hold.  Is there any way to add a WL book to my bookshelf on hold?  If I post the book, it will immediately get offered to somebody and then I'd have to go through the hassle of canceling, etc.  and since it would be four or five at once, I'm afraid it would put me on TPTB radar screen.  Any suggestions?

Christa - I will see if I can find the earlier thread, but I think if you put your account on vacation hold you can post the book, put it on hold and then take your account off vacation.  MsRight has suggested this in the past.  I have never done this so I would wait for a few other responses, and in the interim I will see if I can find the thread.

Mrright here: Going on vacation hold and posting a WL book and then putting that book on hold before you come off vacation hold should work. I would do it with justt one to be sure.  But I know when I've had my account on hold and had a WL book I've posted time out, I've had to unhold the account to get it to go to the next wisher again.

One time I noticed damage to a WL book I had posted.  When it was about to time out, I put my account on hold and then deleted the book when the WL offer timed out-before it could get offered to the next person in line.

Adriane, no--if you're talking about just putting a book on your shelf "on hold" after you receive it....the system will not even see that you have the book posted until you take it off hold. It becomes initially posted and starts making its way through the FIFO line when it's removed from hold.

Christa, if I buy a book I don't put it in the system until after I have read it.  This removes any hurry to read and post.  Don't worry, it will likely still be in demand on people's wish lists.
