Hard to believe, but we're already through the first quarter of the year!! So how is the Challenge going for you? Anyone still stuck on a particular category? If so, be sure to post under the thread for that category to remind all your fellow Challengers to keep an eye out for a particular thing you need--name, place, etc.

If you haven't updated your list lately, now's a good time to do it, and review to see what else you can cross off in the coming weeks. The LISTS ONLY thread is currently about halfway down the first page, I think.

I'm right on track for now, having completed 3 of the 12 original categories--although I'm usually much further along by now, so it "feels" like I'm behind. I've got quite a few of the bonus ones done, though, so at least I won't be scrambling to do those later.

How about you folks--are you happy with how things are proceeding so far?

I think that I am doing splendidly.  I think I have only one or two titles to go in the challenge.  I burned through six or seven of them in January because I had the titles sitting here.

I've read only one title in the "dead series" bonus and I think I've read two or three in the second bonus.  Last year I completed the bonus but missed one in the main challenge. I just couldn't make it through that Barbara Hambly book! This year, I'm not sure if I'll make it through the both the bonuses but at least I will complete the main challenge!

I'm doing way better on the Mystery Challenge than on the others that I signed up for, which makes sense, since I read way more mysteries than any other ficition.

I've done 4 of the 12, I finished the dead series challenge because I only had 3 to read for that one, and I'm in the middle of the first book for the second challenge, reading 10 books I've had for a while.  I decided that for this last one I'll read some of the many Barbara Vine (Ruth Rendell stand alones) that I've had forever and just never gotten around to.  I'm really enjoying the first one I picked up (The House of Stairs).

I have done 6 of the 12. Going on a vacation soon so I plan on doing lots for reading on the plane. So far my favorite from this list is The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.

I'm loving this mystery challenge! :) I have completed 6 of the main catergories and am on my 7th one. I have also read one of my Dead End Bonus books. I have spaced the 8 books in Anne George's series out, so that I will read one per month. I don't know why I picked a series with 8 books, but I have been wanting to read her books for a long time. It's sad that she died and won't be writing any more of these great cozies. I'm going to have to start reading some of my other bonus books as well.

I'm right on track, having completed 3. However, this month's mystery book set me back on my three other challenges, so I glared at every time I spot it on my shelf. ;)

I haven't yet come to a point where I'm stumped on a category, but I know there are a couple where I do not like my options (the one with my name, and something released this year -- toughies given that my mystery experience is almost entirely with stuff by authors that are already dead, and my name is pretty uncommon and not at all classical). When I get closer to the end I'll rely on you all to steer me well. :)

I am doing horribly over all. I have had no time in the past two months to read. But I have vacation coming up so I hope to change that.  I am currently reading two really good books, if I can just find the time between the running around and work.  I am tired of coming home so tired I just veg in front of the TV.

I'm cruising - I'm in the midst of my 9th...and have a 1/3 of one bonus done. Easy for me as I read primarily mysteries, the only difficult part is actually wanting to read one I've picked sometimes. Some I've really enjoyed after intially not being eager to start them.

I have finished eight of the catagories.  My problem is reading a book for the challenge, loving it and having to read the rest of the series.

I read Victoria Thompson's Murder on Astor Place for the Sinners, Not Saints catagory and ended up ordering and reading all the books I could get.  The same thing happened with Far, Far Away, I read Alexander McCall Smith's The No 1 Ladies Detective Agency and ordered several more in the series.

I received Ghost at Work by Carolyn Hart today in the mail and I'll use it for Beam Me Up, Scotty.

I'm having a hard time finding something for Parlez Vous, Francais and the bonus catagories but there is plenty of time to decide.

Doing great here!  I've completed 8 of the 12 main categories, the first bonus and 3 of 10 in the second bonus.  I'm not sure if I cheated just a little in the first bonus since I only had one book left in the series.  Hopefully the second bonus will help me to get books off my TBR that have been there a long time.  Also, I expect this to force me to admit that there are some of those books that I will never read.  Those can be shifted to my bookshelf.  I'm really enjoying the challenge!

Wow, you guys are doing well! Keep up the good work! There are some books on my list too, that I keep looking at and passing over, hopefully won't end up with a bunch of those at the end. It's only natural that I'll like some more than others.

BTW, if you start reading a book for any category and find you absolutely can't finish the one you chose, you can always pick something else. The key is to finish the category, not to punish yourself by making yourself read a book you're hating! This is supposed to be fun. :)

I started like gangbusters and went through several books in January and early February.  But then several wishlisted books came in, started a new book club and had a book to read for that, then several books on the wait list at the library came in.  I hope by the end of April I will be able to get back to the challenge again.

I have finished for 4 of the main categories and reading the fifth one right now.  This challenge is fun because I'm actually clearing off some books in my TBR mountain. Hopefully soon I will get to the bouns books.

I've finished four of 12 in the main categories and started five today.  Two in Bonus 2 and plan to start the Bonus 1 tomorrow.  Oh the humanity - seven WL books are on their way to me!  I think I'll be falling behind!

Thanks for the reminder, Cheryl.   I was so busy with the Around the World challenge for the first three months of the year that I forgot to report my progress on the mystery challenge!   I've only finished 4  of the 12 challenges, but I read multiple books under several of those categories.   Thanks to this challenge and the Around the World challenge I've read some really good mysteries.

I am done!!!! I have done all the main categories.  I will still try to do the bonuses. It was a lot of fun read books and authors I would not have picked up otherwise. Best book Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larson and What Angel's Fear by CS Harris. Worse books Death by Cashmere by Sally Goldenbaum and a Christmas Visitor by Anne Perry.

Thank you for organizing this challenge Cheryl.

I'm almost done...but the bonuses will take longer, and somehow I just haven't been able to pick up the "Jodi" book - still plenty of time.

8 of my categories are complete and were great. I actually read multiples in those 8 categories, because I liked the authors so well. Most of them were "new" to me. 2 of the categories were easy to choose books, but I have not read them yet.

BUT, I am having difficulty in 2 of the categories. The 2 are HOME SWEET HOME and HOLIDAY.
