Thoroughly enjoyable read. A book about Obstetrics, riding accidents, birth, rebirth, love and lost love, the search for healing, and the fragility of our souls. A very absorbing story, told beautifully.

This is a wonderful book. An OBGYN escapes her life after a delivery goes terribly wrong. She returns home to Calif. and ends up working for a Dressage Judge at an equestrian center. Calif. is where the dr. grew up riding her Olympic level dressage horse before the horse met his own very bad fatal accident. Learn how the pregnant woman's husband, dressage judge and this doctors lives are all intertwined, in part mystery, part love story, part finding onesself. Very satisfying ending too.

Sensitive and thoughtful account of a doctor's anguish when a delivery goes wrong. The doctor's personal ties to the patient and her husband open doors to revelations of past relationships and events - engrossing read!

A remarkable first novel...the page-turning story of one womans past and present lives colliding with eerie inevitability in a life-changing crisis - Tim Farrington, Author of The Monk Downstairs
Really liked this book. Good story, good flow. Easy to read and hard to put down.
I just got this book in the mail today. I started reading it about two or three hours ago. And I just finished it. Once I put my son to bed, I just could not put it down. The laundry, the dishes, everything else just had to wait. This story grabs you and will not let you go until the end. I would definitely recommend this book.
Couldn't put it down! I finished it in 2 1/2 days.....A new Life Begininnig and clearing up secrets from the past.....What a great book!

I found this book to be okay for a first novel. The story kept my attention and I never felt like it was hard to get through. I would recommend it to my friends to read. I am planning on reading more of the authors books to see how she developes.
Very good easy read.
Very good story. Looking forward to more.
Clara Raymond is the kind of obstetrician any woman would want-caring, skilled, dedicated. But she is caught off guard when a pregnant woman is wheeled onto the labor & delivery floor with what seem to be minor complaints. The patient turns out to be Lydia Benson, a childhood friend who saved Clara's life after a terrible horseback-riding accident. And at Lydia's side is her husband, Gordon Robinson, a man whom Clara once loved passionately and then left, although she has never forgotten him.
That night, in the labor & delivery room, the brief reunion goes tragically wrong. For Clara, the consequences will include a journey to California and to her own past-and a rediscovery of hope in a place she never expected.
