My friend told me about this book he read in high school that reminds me a little of the Thursday Next series, but it's not.  It's about a masked man who can create books and then enter them.  At some point he creates a woman and she's also able to create worlds.  Also, it's possible to get trapped in the book, and there's an antagonist somewhere in there.  I know that's vague, but those are the only details he could remember!  If you know what this might be, please help me!

Sounds like a wonderful book, hopefully someone will find it for you.  No clue myself.

If you find out, can you post it here?

I'll definitely post the answer if I find it!  I'm starting to visit different independent bookstores and asking the employees if they've read it.  I would really love to find this book for my friend, so if you ever hear anything, please let me know!

Thanks Christine - I added it to my reminder list to read it sometime, which now sits at 250+ books, which doesn't even count if there is more than 1 book in a series.

You'all know this is from the VERY famous computer game Myst ??  (or used to be famous)  Right???  There are three books, four games.

I highly recommend this game if you're into puzzles and mystery - little violence, beautiful secluded islands.........  Don't know if they still make the game or not, it's from way back.
