I bought a copy of 'The Princess Diaries' yesterday at Salvation Army. The only thing I'm confused about it it says "Free Special Edition" on the cover & "Not For Resale" on the back. Would this be considered a ARC? To me it's not because it's the newest edition of the book (different cover re-release). Also it does have a ISBN as well: 0061141917

Well, the Help Center says that the following cannot be swapped:  Advance Reader Copies (also known as ARC s, Review Copies or Uncorrected Proofs--these are not the final versions of books).  I was thinking that your book might be a review copy, so I looked that up.  A review copy is "another means by which book publishers and authors promote their newly released or upcoming titles. The publisher normally allocates a certain amount of copies to be given to the media for review purposes. A majority of review copies are made available for new authors looking to gain notoriety."  The other thing that gets me is the "not for resale" part.  I think that lends more to the unpostable side.

I don't think this is a totally clear one, so this is just my opinion.

Thing is this book has been out since 2000 & my book says the release year is 2005.

It may have been a promotional item with a movie or something like that and it wasn't meant to be sold separately from that item.  It doesn't sound like an ARC so I think it can be traded

Since it has a different ISBN so it will be posted separately from the regular edition, how adding a tag to it that says "Free Special Edition"? That way people are forewarned. The Not For Resale is a little worrisome, but I don't think it qualifies as an ARC/Uncorrected Proof.

I think tagging it with "free special edition" might lead people to think they can get it from here for free.  Just something to consider.

The ISBN is the same as the regular book. Why would I list it any different?

Sorry, I thought that your original post was saying it was a different ISBn from the original print.
