I"m fairly new here and still figuring out all the little details.  I've had my requests accepted and now say will mail by 4/29/08.  If it isn't yet in my "en route to me" tab, does that mean they haven't mailed it yet?  and some requests say "accpted by member" some say "printed"  I guess i'm confused as to the delay between accepting and printing and why it isn't mailed yet by the date it says it will be mailed by.  wow, my sentence was really confusing.  I've read a lot on the forum about people's bad experiences... so far, all my books have been received well except for the 8 still on their way... and i got my first books in the mail, which was exciting... like i said, i'm just trying to get all the little ins and outs straight. :)

If it's not on your "en route" tab, then the sender hasn't marked that they've mailed the book.  Chances are, they haven't dropped it in the mail yet then.  Senders have 2 days past that "will mail by" date to mark the book mailed.

Accepted means the other member has seen your request and told PBS that they can mail you the book.

Printed means that the other member has printed the PBS wrapper to send you the book.

There usually is a delay between the two but not always.  I know I work between 2 computers here at home.  Only one's got a printer attached so, when I get a request, I will accept it no matter which computer I'm on.  The wrapper doesn't get printed until I'm on the computer with the printer though and I don't do that until I'm ready to get the book ready to mail.

LOL, I'm not terribly patient either.  Every day I come racing home from work to see what books I've gotten.  I'm quite disappointed when there aren't any waiting.

Here are some explanations from the help center

If the sender clicks "I can mail in the next 2 days" the Status of the transaction on the request on the requestor's  account page will read "Accepted".   (It will say accepted-printed once the label has been printed)

If a sender clicks "I can mail later" the status of the transaction on the request on the requestor's  account page will show "Will Mail by:" and the alternate mailby date chosen.

Something to remember...the vast majority of people are receiving books just fine every day.  If you look at the posts you sort of get a "skewed" idea of how many transactions go wrong- those just tend to be the ones that get posted about!

Happy trading!

Yeah don't get too worried over what you read in the forums as only the really bad transactions seem to get talked about.  For every bad transaction you see posted on here-there's 100 that went smoothly.  If everyone posted on here about all the great transactions they had-the board would be clogged with "what a great swap" threads.  So it kind of looks like people are getting bad books left and right but really they're not.
