Around the 1st of Sept. I posted that I was having a 2 for 1 deal, anything on my bookshelf.  I also put it in my profile and as part of my signature.

Since then, i've had about 10 orders and with only 1 or 2 exceptions, they didn't know about the freebie.  I had to PM them  and then wait until they chose one.  It seems that the men, especially, rarely read the forums.  Are any of the rest of you hving this problem?  Do you tell the buyer about the freebie?  With one woman, I couldn't wait any longer and so offered her 2 freebies on her next order.  I wish there was a way to put it directly on the bookshelf.

I also ran a two for one here a couple of weeks ago and have the special noted in my signature line, but that said, if someone orders a book and doesn't ask for the freebie, I don't follow up. I'm not sure it's expected. For one thing, it slows things down, since you have to wait for a response. And in all the books I've ordered, no one has ever contacted me to offer a freebie. So it works both ways.

I figure the special deals are a part of taking the time to look at the bazaar and get acquainted in the other forums.

I have the same thing happen a lot - usually I will tell the person I'm having a special just to see if I can make some more space over here, but I would say it's totally up to you.

Wellll...if I know the person from the forums or previous orders, I do pm them about the special.  Otherwise, no.

What I do is PM them and say "I'm offering a 2 for 1 deal right now.  If you'd like to order a free book, please PM me by 10pm tonight as I'm going to package your book to mail off in the morning".  I find that some people don't answer their PMs so that's why I put the time limit in.  If they don't respond, I figure that I've done my best and they aren't interested.

Thanks, everyone, for the suggestions.  I think I'm allowing too much leeway for them to respond.  I feel guilty by not telling them about the freebie, but I will lmit the time better/    Maybe next time R & R revamp, we can suggest a place on the bookshelf for deals, if that's possible.
