This is a question for employees of the Postal Service.  I've no experience on which to base this question, but would I be correct in assuming that, due to the snowstorms, media mail will be deprioritized even further in order to ensure priority mail still goes out in a reasonable amount of time?

Yes the mail goes out in the order of class,  Express, Priority, First Class, Parcel Post and then media mail and  most days all the mail goes out..But in some cases you are correct in saying  that weather plays a part in it or a day after a holiday, But never is it held up more than a day or possibly two in extreme cases (like a flood or Blizzard conditions snow storm) An it's safe to say it all comes down to the price you save a bit on the postage and take that chance...Hope this is helpful...

Have  a good evening.

Extremely helpful :)  I'm not worried that my books will never get here, I just figured with all this snow I should expect a little extra patience is due.  It's good to know that they still get to the media mail at some point, rather than waiting for the mess to completely pass.  I figure media mail is so useful as an inexpensive service that there's little room for complaint.  I'll just stop checking the mail so eagerly for a few days lol
