Hey everyone,

I was checking the tracking details on a  book I sent and  I noticed the last entry says "notice left"  What exactly does this mean?  Does it mean the person has to go pick the book up at the post  office?  This particular book has taken a real round about way to get to its destination and it's obviously still not there.  I mailed in from Louisiana, then it went to Oregon, Washington, and finally to Arizona.  I have mailed to Arizona before and I have never seen a book take this path before!    I am just anxious for the member to get the book.   I already have my credit, but still would feel better when the member can click the book has been received.

It's possible that they have a mail box that was too small for the book so the mail man left a notice for them to pick it up.  Many areas are switching to those small mail boxes where a whole bunch are together and there's only a little small box that doesn't hold much. These are really common in apartment, condo and town home complexes.

They get a card in their mailbox telling them they have a package.  They can either then go to the PO to pick it up or check off a box on the card to have it re-delivered on whatever day they want, when someone's home to get the package.

Requestors mailbox could be too small, or too full - so yes, they will need to make arrangements with their local PO.

What Sarah said.  It could also be that the person is on vacation and has their mail on hold.

I just tracked one of my DCs and go he same thing - Notice left 16Sep.

As I sent 3 books and would like to ensure the reciever has the books and I get the credits, I just sent him a friendly PM as a reminder.

Hey everybody,

The tracking details say now that the book was delivered on Sept. 19.   However, the member has still not marked the book received.  Since I used DC I already have my credit, but I wish she would mark it since it still shows under my books mailed.  Doesn't PBS send emails asking if the book has been received yet?  I would like to send a friendly PM asking them about the book, but I know some members don't like that.  Guess I will just wait it out.

Hi - it is sometimes marked received - but it actually was marked received at the PO and has not been sent out for delivery.  I have a book that shows delivered on the 19th.  I am hoping in a day or two it will be marked received.  I also have quick credit - but I still want my books to reach their new home!   If I don't hear from the requester by the end of the week I will probably send them a PM to see if they received the book.  The go lost date is nearing.  Patience - {{shiver}} I really don't like the word.   :)

It's great when it all works out :)
