Recently I mailed out about 8 books and have been using prepaid postage, which, I love, but I have some questions. 3 of the 8 books I sent have been delivered/recieved according to DC, but the reciever(s) haven't marked them recieved and I was wondering, if they don't mark it after a time, do I lose my credit(S)?

Also, when I send two books in one pkg, it seems like I only get one credit. Do I get the other one when they mark it recieved? Which brings me to my first question again, because one of the members that didn't mark their book recieved, I sent two to, and only got credit for one so far.

I hope that isn't too confusing.....but help!

I believe in both cases, credit assurance kicks in. You get your credit regardless of delivery when you use PBS DC.

Help center says:

  • If your package sent with PBS-DC is lost or misdelivered after USPS has scanned it, you still get QuickCredit automatically
    • This is CreditAssurance--really useful if you send a multiple-book shipment. You'll get credits for all the books in that shipment if a PBS Bulk Wrapper with PBS-DC was used.

I've noticed that too, since I'm now sending pretty much all my books with the online postage. About 75% of them are marked by the USPS as delivered at least a couple of days before they're marked received, and several have gone as long as a week. I don't worry about it, as you've got the credit already, and so far all have been eventually marked rec'd. I have had books sent TO me that show up as delivered by the USPS tracking but that I didn't get for a couple days after that. Don't know why, but there you go.

As to the two books in one pkg, if they were a bulk order from the member, you SHOULD get both credits right away. Initially when they did the online postage, that wasn't working right but they fixed the glitch--I sent a bulk order just a couple days ago and both credits came through okay. If the member ordered the books separately (ie, it came in two orders and not one bulk order) and you just packaged them in one order to save postage, then the second credit won't come til they marked it received because the system doesn't realize that second book is in the same package.

Thanks everyone.

I think the problem with me not recieving both credits right away is like Cheryl, said, that I 'm mailing them in one pkg, but NOT with the bulk mailing label.

I tried reading how to do it when the same member requests two or more books, (not in bulk) and all it did was confuse me. :)

Anyway, I don't get the bulk wrapper thing.

Sometimes the PO scans the barcode when the package gets there (to the local PO itself) and it doesn't actually go out to the residence mailbox for a couple of days.  I have noticed "Delivered" scans on some books coming to me that happened a few days before the books actually arrived.

Bulk requests are just requests for multiple books at once submitted by using the Order More from Member button when you submit the first request.  This puts all the books into one transaction, and there is only one Print Wrapper button and only one Books Mailed button on the transaction for the sender.  Your bulk wrapper will have the titles of all the books on it.  From the requestor's side, it looks the same as usual, but from the sender's side a bulk request looks different.

If the requests aren't "bundled" using the Order More button, then the system doesn't know they are going to the same person, so each request has to be processed separately--there is a Print Wrapper button for each, and a Book Mailed button for each.  You can adjust the weight on the wrapper styles page (the one where you choose the layout of the wrapper) for one of the books to make it print the correct postage for all the books, if you have a postal scale.  Then you just print the individual wrapper and mail all the books with it.  You'll only get one instant credit, but you'll get the other credits when the other books are marked received.  You just have to be sure to "pretend" to print the other wrappers, and mark all of the books mailed.  It's much easier when ppl use the Order More button.

About half the time I haveused the "order more" button my order still does not get processed as a bulk order. No idea why that is. I usually PM the sender to point out to them that they can save money by sending my multiple books in one package. Of course they do then only get one instant credt...
