Subject: Question about purchasing delivery confirmation from PBS

I printed a label from PBS to include delivery confirmation.  Now I have to add stamps (suggested media mail rate based on weight is $2.38).  Is that all I attach for postage?  Or do I have to include an additional $0.19 for the delivery confirmation?  (A total of $2.57.)

Normally I include postage when printing my label, but in this particular instance, the address I'm mailing it to, doesn't accept it or something.

Also, I can just drop this off at my post office... no need to have them put the postage on.  Right?

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Pam

P.S.  I'm offering 2-for-1 on my shelf.  Have a look and if you're interested, order one book the usual way and send me a personal message letting me know which freebie you'd like.

You do have to add the 19 cents.  You can drop in in the blue box or at the PO if the book is under 13 oz.  If it is over 13 oz, then a postal worker will need to print a stamp for you.  Or use the APC and a credit card.

Thanks for your help.  Can you also tell me what the $0.27 was for, that was deducted from my PBS money?  Just a fee for PBS?  Thanks again.

That goes to PBS and to the mail printer service, encarta?  They charge PBS to use the service.  The 19 cents is postage.

Yes Pam, there's .27 PBS charge in addition to the .19 USPS fee...together .46 which is cheaper than the USPS 'green' sticker Delivery Confirmation which costs .80 and cannot be tracked by PBS for credit guarantee.

Some of the 27 cents goes to pay PBS for the credit guarantee.  And some goes to the online postage service provider.  Do not know what percent goes where.

I disagree that if it is over 13 oz. that it must be cancelled by the P.O. If you are using PBS DC that makes it "trackable" which also means that they can determine who mailed the package so you can use stamps without handing it to a postal employee. I do believe that is the case, but if someone knows otherwise, please correct me!
