I'm listening to this. It has had rave reviews. I'm at the point where what I think is the main guy character (it is sometimes hard to keep track of who is who in an audio for me when I get a thousand names in the first chapter) has picked up a 16-year-old at corner store. Please tell me this book gets better. So far I have not laughed at all, and this is supposed to be a funny book. At this point I'm ready to stop listening, because what is some adult guy doing with some girl who is claiming she is 16 and he thinks she is even younger? Eww.  The characters are not interesting me either, except Phoebe's friend Victor, who at least seems interesting. And I have to say, I am all for Phoebe leaving these football people high and dry. :P I guess I am not turning out to be an SEP convert here...

The sixteen year old girl  is not actually a 16 yr old girl. If you listen a little farther you will find out who it is. I promise she is an adult.

You have to continue reading.  I was about to stop reading to because I was getting grossed out.  I'm glad I continued.:)

Glad I wasn't the only one who almost stopped reading it. If I'd been reading it in paper form, I'd have just skipped ahead to see what the deal was. I do love paper.

OMG I think that page stopped everyone in their tracks!!  For me, it was an ok book.  It was kind of forgetful after I put it down.

Please continue with IHTBY.  It's my TBBW book.  I think it's "that" good.

I guess I never got grossed out by the 16 year old girl reference because I couldn't believe that a writer of SEP's talents would do that to her hero.  Everyone gets their hea in that book(or an upcoming one)-except for the person(s) who don't deserve it.  It's a very traditional romance in that respect.

Oh yes, that was a big WTF moment for me too!  And now it's one of my Top Ten romances.

I think you have to give it some time.   SEP does these things in her novels to get your attention.  Then it gets funny and wise and a little out of control for the Heroines.  At least that is the path of falling in love that I associate with her novels.  I didn't love the first few chapters of that one either, but by the end I was ordering all of her books.  There is another one in that series that has some really sad parts but a great HEA.

Darn it with this dial up.   But I just wanted to say that I really loved Match Me if You Can from that series and also First Lady by SEP that is a stand alone.

Okay! You all have convinced me. It's a dirty trick, if you ask me, fooling the reader with something like that, but I'll give it another chance.  I'll get back to it when I'm done with this other one I'm listening to now, Heart Throb by Brockmann.

I Love SEP, but honestly, Almost everytime It takes me at least a few chapters to get into her stories, I've even put a few down after reading a little because I thought I hated them and when I picked them back up and stuck it out for a little while, fell in love!  She's very talented, but something about her writing style just doesn't hook me right away. Thats odd to say since when asked, shes always in my top 5 favorite authors, lol.

I've read most of her books, and can only say I DID NOT like, maybe 2 or 3...
