I'm just curious....

If you submit images for books (that don't yet have images) and they end up not being acceptable, does anyone let you know?

Late last night I submitted some pictures of book covers and now I'm just curious - not because I'd be troubled if my images weren't acceptable, but it would be really helpful to know and to know why (so I could correct the mistake).  I don't think the instructions for submitted images addressed this question.  My apologies if they did (someone please point that out, if that is the case).

Thanks!

~ Becki B.

yes they will let you know.  I submitted some last night as well and they aren't up yet either.  I think they are just behind because they haven't updated the thread in the BI (book image) forum to say they are caught up.

Thanks.  I wasn't concerned that my images hadn't shown up this soon.....I just hoped someone would let me know if they were unacceptable (and hopefully why).  At least one seemed a little fuzzy to me (at full size), but I don't know if it would be an acceptable image at the smaller size they show up on the site.

It was just the first time I've tried and I would want to learn how to do it better, if need be.

OR it would be wonderful to find out that I did it right.  That could get me really excited ;^)

you have to be a member of the Book Image team to have access to that forum.

I just got a PM that my image wasn't approved...while it was fine in my program apparently the PBS viewer showed excess white on the sides.  Why I have no idea but it is hard to know if they aren't using the same program that I am and it looks perfectly fine to me!

so you will be notified if there IS a problem.

I did a couple of pages of approvals this morning Becki and all of your images that I saw were just fine.

It is up to the book approver doing the Image Approvals to decide whether or not to send out notification about the non-approved images, but most of us do send out emails to let people know if there was a problem with the submitted image.  Many of us will even try to revise and resubmit the image to help it get into the system, as well as notify about problems.

The book approvals generally take a day or so to go through the approval queue (a little longer time over the weekend - lots of images are sent in during weekends and it takes longer to go through them all).  If your image doesn't show up after three or four days, you should resubmit because there was most likely a problem getting the image into the system.  (Occasionally, an image still will not upload to the system, even if it passes the approval stage.)  If your previous image submission is still in the approval queue, the site will let you know by saying that the upload was not accepted because there is already an image pending approval.  If the problem was that the previous image was not approved or didn't show up due to a glitch, the re-submission should take care of the problem.

You can always PM a member with a BI or BIC icon by their name to find out when the Image Approval queue was last cleared (meaning all pending images were approved/denied, no pending images remaining) and that will give you a clue as to whether your image has been looked at or if it is still pending approval in the system.
