I've searched a few forums and topics, but haven't found the answer to my question.  And since this is my favorite genre, thought I'd ask here.

I know we can offer WL'd books to other members for credits, but can we post asking for trades?  I've got several WL'd books I'm getting ready to list and was wondering if I could make a post sayting I would trade them for other books that are on my WL.  Not sure if this is legal, or even possible, but thought I'd ask.  Thanks for any help/suggestions/advice on this!

To trade at all (without involving credits)you have to be a member of box of books. (BOB) I don't think you can ask for wl books though even if trading other wl books for them. It's a chance you take -offering wl books in exchange for just credits when you may never have a wl book posted to you..though I know I've checked out someone's WL if they've posted to me..I'm sure others do as well..just don't think you can ever ask for a wl book per pbs rules. You can ask for multiple request on the ones you're offering though to save on postage.I've seen that done a lot.

Box of Books is good if you trade a bunch of books on your bookshelf for a bunch of someone else's - saves on postage and no credits involved.

But I think that Boxing does not involve WL books.  Some of the games do.

Hi Sherry,

No, you can't ask/post a  "trade for a trade". Check out the " Is this on your WL/whatever month WL threads", sometimes you can luck out and get a WL book. Box of books is for posted books, not WL books.  Not all, but several of the games involve WL books (in different genres); just be aware, you may not always get the book(s) you want most (the risk of playing). I've found that players offer great choices though, and it's fun (addicting too:)

no boxing is only for what's on your bookshelf but to ask to trade you have to be a boxer..I'd join if I could have a separate boxer bookshelf that wo uld be neat!

The other thing you can do is make friends with those of us here on the boards.  When you see a book that you like that a friend has won in a swap, or posts she/he read, or got from the wl thread you can ask them to keep you in mind when they are done.  You can check their wl and post stuff to their wl too.

I would highly recommend joining us in the swaps.  They are fun, addicting, have a great group of people, and you have the chance of getting good books too.

Rachel,  you said "I would highly recommend joining us in the swaps.  They are fun, addicting, have a great group of people, and you have the chance of getting good books too".  Is there a special forum for this?

yes - come in the games forum.  You have to pop in daily to check for them, because they fill up fast.  http://www.paperbackswap.com/forum/forum.php?f=57

There are also Virtual boxes-- everyone contributes a couple of books, then when it is your turn you take out books and replace them -- so if you take out 2 you put in 2

Pam's box is taking sign ups right now. Paranormal Fiction Virtual Box (NEW) TAKING SIGNUPS   Her box is paranormal, but not necessarily wish listed

I started with the virtual box ( Katy's -but there is a big wait list to get into it right now) ,  Paranormal  WL virtual box  I think it is 10 wl for this one.

Wendy's box is Young adult paranormal YA Paranormal WL Virtual Box -    must have 5 wl  Wait list is for the next round

The virtual boxes might be a good way to get started.  You usually get to pick out books about once a month, give or take how long it takes to cycle through.
