I did a little searching and can't find the answer to this.

I ordered a book from a member, and using the option that comes up during the order, I found and ordered another book from her shelf that looked interesting.  She has sent me a PM stating that she has accepted and sent the first book I ordered, but she can't find the additional book so she cancelled that one.  I'm OK with all of that.  But there is a problem in my transaction archive for Book 2 that I don't understand.  First, it showed that I am -1 for the order of Book 2 I made.   Then it shows that I am -1 for a "passed request" on the same book.  Then it shows that I am +1 because the other member cancelled the request for that book.   I can't understand where the "passed request" came from, as this book was never on my WL; I only ordered it because I saw it on her shelf and it looked good.   So now it looks like I have lost a credit for a book that I will never receive.   Ideas or explanations?

Thanks!

You're request was passed on to the next person in line with that book on their shelf - if you look at your My Account tab, you should see a request for that book.

Pat, the order of the notations are sometimes comfusing--the +1 really should appear first because the order with the original person was cancelled so you got your credit back, then it was passed on so it was -1.  For some reason they appear in the opposite order in the record.

Maybe the first person didn't see the order for the 2nd book and it timed out, or she cancelled it but didn't want to tell you?  Or, you could have inadvertently ordered from another person's shelf by mistake and that person didn't respond or cancelled.

Thanks, Rhonda - now I see what happened.  Indeed, the request was passed to the next person who had the book available. They have already accepted and printed the label, so I should end up receiving the book.

I did not realize that if I chose an additional non-WL book from someone's shelf while I was ordering, that the system would automatically trigger a request from someone else if the original order was cancelled.

No big deal, I am glad to know how it works and that I will be receiving a book for my credit.
