Never had this come up since being a member but would like opinions ... I have 2 Taste of Home cookbooks, 1999 and 1998 ... They are in very good condition but I noticed that on the back few pages something got spilled .. Not food or anything gross ... they don't interfere with the actual recipes pages ... I know I have seen people post for "unpostables" and asking credits for them ... Is this allowed?  Thanks!

Cookbooks are the only exception to the "no stains" rule:

  • Exception: Cookbooks may have some mild staining, since these are used in the kitchen and while cooking, and some minor degree of staining could be expected in a used cookbook.  Also a small amount of writing in cookbooks could be expected
    • HOWEVER, if you post a cookbook and it is stained and/or written-in, the condition must be described to the requestor in a Personal Message
    • AND the described condition MUST BE AGREED TO in a reply PM before the book is sent
    • This is the one of the ONLY three cases in which a PM exchange about a book is required before the book can be sent (the others are for travel guidebooks and textbooks/workbooks--see above).

this exception applies to the covers of cookbooks also.

Congrats on knowing the 'unpostable' rules Janet!

As Whitney says tho, cookbooks (and textbooks) have their own special waiver.  If you read and follow it exactly, cookbooks can be posted FIFO.

Cookbooks are often wishlisted and slow to move FIFO.  Good luck finding a new home for yours!

ETA - and to answer your OP question exactly, Yes.  If you choose to post your cookbook in the Book Bazaar, Unpostable thread you are allowed to request one credit to cover postage (same as a regular swap).
