When you turn down a request, does that book go back to your bookshelf? I thought it said it would go back to the fifo, but don't see it on bookshelf.  It only had one member wishing for it, and their RC's read like they were looking for new books so I didn't want to take a chance in sending the book and having it marked received with a problem.  There is nothing wrong with the book, other than it's been read a few times to and by my two children.  Do I re-post or No? any and all advise would be great.

Thanks.

IIRC, it's removed from your bookshelf and you have to list it again. Go ahead and post it again, as the system won't let you post duplicates. You won't have to worry about having two copies listed.

There's an entry in the help docs at...

http://www.paperbackswap.com/help/search.php?terms=decline+request

I canceled/declined a book request and now I want to send the book!

When you indicated that you could not send the book, the transaction was canceled, the book was removed from your bookshelf, and if there was another copy available in the system, the request was passed along to a new sender.

You will need to repost the book if you want to offer it for swapping.

  • If the previous requestor did not have his or her request passed along, your copy will then be offered to him or her immediately, and he or she will have 48 hours to confirm that she or he still wants the book.
  • If the previous requestor's request was passed along, your book will need to wait for a new requestor.

If this was a request with conditions that you declined by clicking , you will not be able to send this book to this requestor.

If you clicked that your book did not meet the conditions, it should be on your bookshelf still, unless there is someone else wishing for it.  If you clicked that you could not send it for other reasons, then it would be removed from your bookshelf. By any chance have you since gotten another request?

From the Help Center:

  • If a sender declines by clicking
    • That book does not lose its place in the "FIFO" line
    • It simply goes back into its previous place
    • The requestor's request is passed to the next person offering the book.
    • If this is a Wish List book
      • and there are other people Wishing for the book, the requestor goes back onto the Wish List at the same place "in line" and the book is offered to the next Wishing member.
      • and there is no one else Wishing for the book, the book is removed from the requestor's Wish List.
        • the book goes onto the requestor's Reminder List
        • the requestor will not be able to Wish List the book again until this copy has been sent out to another requestor (and there are no active copies in the system).
  • If a sender declines by clicking
    • This is just like a regular book request decline:
      • The book is removed from the sender's bookshelf
      • The requestor's request is passed to the next sender in FIFO, if there is another copy of the book available
      • If there is no other copy of the book available, the book goes onto the requestor's Wish List.

The RC page is confusing because there are two cancel buttons on one page.  You must use the "does not meet the RC" button, not the "cancel" book button for the book to stay on your shelf.

The "cancel a book" button AND the bookshelf hold button both cause you to go to the end of the FIFO list.  Only the "does not meet RC" button lets you stay at the front of the line.
