So I picked up book # 5 at the Goodwill tonight thinking I'd just post it for a credit but then after reading more about it I'm a little intrigued.  Before I go WLing Books 1-4 & the ones after #5 I want to know are they really worth it?  Basically I want to know are they just okay, good or REALLY GOOD.  Honestly the LAST thing I need is more books in my TBR pile let alone a series, but if it is worth it then I want to put the effort forth to get them.  So let me know your opinion.

Thanks in advance :)

Shayla

i LOVE them! i myself thought they were really good, they're about real women, dealing with real situations. great ensemble cast. funny, this could happent to me sort of stories. BTW....lol there are 7 books in the series, plus a new spin off too.

also, it has one of the most diverse cast of characters ever in a Christian fiction book. lots of different ethnicities and cultures are blended together.

I can't believe I had someone respond already...thanks Deborah.  I was just on the author's website & was reading about the spin off, seems like a very clever way to have stories/characters intertwined.  Thanks for your opinion!

I truly have enjoyed the series and consider it worth getting them all to read. I read the first 1 out of order and that was okay, but found I was much happier when I got them in order and read them that way. Laughing at myself- I have found myself eagerly waiting to see what happens with each lady's life situations and spiritual journey.

Shayla, I had #1 or 2 in the series if I still have it around I will send it to you.  I may have already sent it out to someone on PBS.  but if I find it in my mount o' books, it is yours!

Aw thanks Shellie, you're such a kind buddy!  :)

Have you read the series?  What did you think?

I was wondering about this series too! Just checked my library and they have the first 4 so I think I'm gonna try them that way since I've been purchasing way too many books.

I've only read the first one, and have the  2nd one here in my to be read pile (I seriously need to lay off getting books for a while, the pile is growing way faster than I can read!)

I was reluctant to read these books at first.  I kept passing them over in the Christian bookstore, judging a book by it's cover.  The pink turned me off.  It looked like too much fluff, too much girly, and Christian goody-two-shoes girly at that, to really interest me.  But after hearing several people say they really liked them, I decided to give the first one a shot.  I'm glad I did.  The characters were easy to relate to, and I really cared about what happened to them.  Best of all, it left me thinking about things of faith in ways I had either not thought of myself, or ways I hadn't thought of in a long time.  That to me is a great book.

I'm listening to the series on CD (currently on #4) and it's awesome because the characters have a wide vaiety of ethnic backgrounds and reader uses "authentic" voices for each.  Plus she sings the songs mentioned.  I'd definitely recommend you listen to them - it feels like I've made a new group of friends.

I've been collecting them through PBS but want to wait til I have the whole series before reading them so I can go right through it - I'm only 1 or 2 away I think...

I'm like that Janna, I like to have an entire series before reading it that way I can read thru it & just wait for the newest one to come out.  I have the entire Chronicles of the King series by Lynn Austin & to get thru that is one of my goals for 2009.

A few women at our church read the 1st  YADA book awhile back and were inspired to start a women's prayer group at our church. Our group is now going strong, growing, and we will be celebrating our 5th birthday this May! The best part is that we have all learned SO MUCH about prayer! We've grown closer to each other, and most importantly, closer to the Lord.

i got the new yada yada book, Where Do I Go? in the mail last week. It's the first book in the spinoff series, The Yada Yada House. Anywho in the back of the book, a new book will come out next year in that series plus the author's husband, Dave Jackson will be writing a Yada Yada Men's book too!

Oh geez, I can see my TBR MT. & RL/WL growing...at first I thought it was just a series, then I learned there are spin offs, now Yada Yada Men!  I'm thinking I shouldn't have asked about this series RIGHT when I made my 2009 goal to decrease my TBR MT.   :)

I loved the series and wished that there were more.  Of course, she is coming out with the new related series.  I thought they were inspiring and thought provoking.  I have all but 4, but read it from the library.  I am also enjoying The Potluck Club series.  I like these series because they are not the same old story just retold.  Hope you enjoy them as well.
