Hey all you fellow HF forum members! I impulsively started a mini historical mystery challenge in 2010 and was asked to repeat it in 2011. I'm wondering if you are liking it and whether I should plan to continue something along this line for next year. I would appreciate any comments, suggestions and questions. Also, if we do continue it, should we make it a full-blown challenge or not and should we ask for a sticky thread for it? Unbeknownst to many of you, the winner (as in the member who finishes the entire challenge first) usually gets a "small" prize from me and I would like to continue that. So what do you think? |

I think we should continue the H/F Mystery challenge I really like it, I always find new authors with the challenges. You have done a very fine job. I still think that a pony is a fine prize. |

Jeanne, I love the mystery challenges! I would miss it if it was discontinued. Letty..you crack me up. |
I love it and it gives me total freedom to engage in one of my guilty pleasures! |

Wow -- if I knew there was a prize involved, I would have signed up!! But Letty can have the pony -- I'm thinking more along the lines of a floor-to-ceiling book case. Yes, Jeanne, you should continue the challenge -- you've done such a fine job -- and keep it as a mini-challenge -- since most folks who participate also participate in the full-blown Historical Fiction and/or Mystery/Thriller Challenge, a mini-challenge does not feel so overwhelming (it also encourages folks who might not otherwise delve into this sub-genre to do so). And if you need an enforcer....

I like it as a mini-challenge. As a newbie, I found it to be an incentive to get going again on my reading. :P Not that it helped much in the mini-challenge, but has the full challenge. |

Oh, yes, please continue, Jeanne! I've only dabbled in the historical mysteries, but I'm am determined to jump in with both feet at some point. I thought your categories this year were so creative! And did you say that the prize is an all-expense paid trip on EC's William Marshall tour? Why, how generous of you! |
Oh you guys - so funny and so supportive! I just love you all. Well, let's wait and see if we get anymore comments. I enjoy it but I'm not sure how much longer the old brain here will be able to come up with ideas - I guess time will tell. PONY??? FLOOR TO CEILING BOOKCASE???? Did you see the operative word in there? In case you missed it, it was "small"! |

Oh Lordy, now they want an all expense paid trip on E.C.'s William Marshall tour! I don't think I can handle all this - DH would absolutely have apoplexy. I, of course would be at Letty's riding the pony; helping Deb's hubby build the book case and sipping on small ale while on the Marshall tour! |

Don't worry about not being able to think of enough categories. We will be glad to help out in that department. And since some of us didn't do 2010, or are only doing the minimum of 4 this year, you can recycle a few favorite categories. |

Thanks Christa! I may need to follow your advice. As you may have guessed, I've already got a couple of ideas - let's see how far I get and if need be, I'll send out an S.O.S.! |

Yep -- you know you can count on us for ideas (well, at least some of us). |

Historical mysteries are one of my favorite genres so please continue. Alice |

Jeanne, Historical Mystery is my favorite genre. Please continue the challenge. Although I have not posted my reads, I vote for continuing the challenge. Mary |

It's beginning to look like this challenge should be continued, so I will be working on it...... |

Jeanne, please continue the HF mystery challenge. I have no less than 10 HF mystery series I'm preoccupied with In all honesty, you'd be doing me a favor.
Has anyone completed all of this years challenge yet? Just curious.... ETA: And a sticky for the challenge would be greatly appreciated. My eyes aren't what they used to be.... lol Last Edited on: 8/11/11 9:50 AM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

I agree Carolyn, about the sticky thread AND the eyes! I've no idea as to how to get a sticky thread though.... Any ideas, my friends? |
This is what I've done: I contacted TPTB requesting the sticky thread. Went to the "contact us" section and asked very politely what we/I want and why. Guess I'll wait and see what happens now. Anything else I should do? |

You should consider yourself heartily thanked! Debbie |

Thank you, all of you! I had no idea that you liked this challenge that much! |

Carolyn: I think there's a couple of us who have completed all 8 categories. |
