do the series romance novels (ie. Harlequin SuperRomance is what I have) eventually start coming  up in the
FIFO or is it strickly through doing deals that we are able to trade them?  I am just curious because there seems to be a lot available. When I finish the ones I have I am planning on getting more, but I imagine I will look for a deal since so many are available that way.  Just curious.  I have been running deals and that is fine by me, but part of me wonders if I was patient if I would eventually get "full-price" for them.

They do go through FIFO so it depends on where you are in the line. Before I post a book I put it on my reminder list then check and see how many copies are available..sometimes there are over 100!

It may take a lot of patience though because thanks to the book bazaar deals a lot of us have gotten spoiled to deals with 2/1 and the harlequins often go for more than that per credit, though the superromances are bigger so probably  not 5/1 like I've seen some other harlequin deals. The newer release ones will probably go faster.

I haven't signed up to be a 'boxer' but for $8 you can trade with other boxers book for book or make a deal without exchanging credits but not sure how you search for people who have the same type you're wanting.

I think I looked at your shelf a while back..you have tons of the superromances, right? seems like you had some entire series. I've only read these off and on but enjoye dthe last few I read and have been thinking of getting some more.

If you want I can go through and check some of them for you by putting them on my reminder list and seeing how many there are...I'm at work and right now not too busy so would give me something to do... ETA: I searched 'superromance' and added the first 50 to my reminder list and they range from 7 to 76 or so in the system..most of yours were in the teens and twenties out of those 50 with a few in teh 30s and 40s so I'd guess those will take a while.

I don't post many books so I don't know how big a demand there are for these but they seem to be fairly plentiful. when I've done deals though I've found 2 credits can cover postage for a lot of books..goes farther than 1 credit...

There are a lot of BOB members with tons of Harlequins on their shelves.  I get offers from them all the time:P  I don't usually want those though - unless they're collectible, and I'm more into collecting the Signet regencies anyway.  I wish I could get 5 for 1 deals on those:P  Anyway, BOB might be a good option for you if you're looking for other people with shelves comparable to your own.  I'm letting mine expire on the 23rd of this month.  I just don't use it anymore, but I got a LOT of books from it in the first 6 months or so that I had it, so it was well worth the cost.

I've never had any categories go FIFO. I keep a few on my shelf but expect to only use them in a deal.

I have once had a category that was wishlisted and did get a credit for that, but it's pretty rare.

I have had only a few categories go FIFO or get ordered directly; they're either relatively rare, or they've been on my shelf for years.  In general, I don't expect them to move except when I offer deals.

I've only had a few go FIFO.  Usually, you get rid of them in deals.

Most category books do actually have a small WL when they're first published.  If you buy them brand new right when they're out or get them thru the mail (earlier than the store), you can post them into FIFO and there'll be a WL line.  I try and get on the beginning of the WL so I can read them quickly and get them reposted before the WL runs out.  Pretty quickly, the WL line runs out.

Sarah is right is is Been There, Done That...

Thanks for the responses everyone!  I was just curious.  I will continue offering deals when I need the credits.  I still have about 50 more Super Romances to read from when I was a subscriber!  I just got further and further behind with each pregnancy/baby.  I generally read a book a week.  Which was perfect.  Until I started having kids.  I would be so tired when I was pregnant and then taking care of a newborn.  Next thing you know I'm running a year behind.  Then with my fourth baby my husband said that he had cancelled the subscription until I caught up!  Now I found this site so I probably won't join back up again.

So right now I am using my credits to get stuff for my son and I am doing a good job of keeping up with what is available that he wants/needs.  I figure when I am ready for more reading material for me I will post some deals and start looking for books I'm interested in.

I think also a lot of people end up buying the series books either at Walmart or through the subscription service or something so there isn't really a need to wait to get them through here.

I have had a couple go through the FIFO but most have been on my bookshelf for over 2 years...actually I think I joined in august 2005 so most have been on for 3 years. I imagine my Harlequin Intrigues are just not as popular as the new Nocturn or the Blaze books. I imagine mine will end up going to the Goodwill or something because they just don't move.

The only ones I've had actually ordered or sent  through FIFO are newer Blaze books. I had one ordered today that I posted over the summer.  I only order series romances through deals and then not very often. The only ones I get are Blazes or if there's one for an author that's writing mostly full lenght now (Jill Shalvis, Lucy Monroe etc...,).

I've turned down a lot of BOB requests where they pretty much had nothing but those on their shelf.  If they ask for a similar size book from me then I'll do the exchange. But usually they want a full length paperback and have nothing but the little series romances.  They're just too short for me.

If you really like reading them, then BOB would probably be good for you.  Although a lot of people buy these cheap to post them here (which is why there's so many of them).  I used to live near a UBS that sold them in bags with 10-20 books for only $1.  I was tempted to buy them just to post but then I saw how many were already here.

Some are WL. Some of the old Nora Roberts, Suzanne Brockmann, Lori Foster series romances are WL because they're hard to find and the authors are so popular now.

If you have the space, stop running deals and see if they start getting ordered through FIFO. To me paying a credit for 1 is just too much when the thrift stores and UBS sell them for pennies sometimes.
