I know this forum isn't always super active, but I figured I would ask here first. :) The only crafting stores around here are Michaels and Joann's and they don't usually know what they're talking about much.
I've recently found out that using an embroidery hoop on bigger cross stitch projects can sometimes damage the stitches. Since I have ADHD it seems when it comes to my big projects, sometimes they can go awhile before I pick them back up again, and I always leave them sitting in the hoop. Which does seem to leave some marks over time.
It's been recommended to me to get an embroidery/cross sitch frame to hold my work taught intstead of a hoop. Does anyone have a good recommendation of one to use? I really don't even know where to start looking, other than I will have to go online, so the local big box craft stores don't have it.
I use this kind and love it. Never did like a hoop. It looks like PVC pipe shaped into a square/rectangle. Easy to put together and take apart. I wouldn't leave it in the frame if you're going to walk away for a length of time. Easy to put back in when you want to go back to your project.
