I've been hearing great things about this series. (I haven't started on it yet)  My question I've looked at the reviews on Amazon and most are 4 1/2 stars.  Now I'm really leary of reviews on Amazon with some of the stuff that has gone on there.  Are most really worthy of 4 1/2 stars? (personally I hope so because I need a good new series)

I can tell you that I've read almost all of the In Death series.    I think that they are great.   In fact, they are on my keeper shelf.    The plots are good, they have some humor, the relationships between the characters are believable, and evolve over the course of the books.

I think if you start with the first one, you will be hooked.

Eve Dallas rocks!

I love this series! My neighbor turned me on to them and I could not put them down, have read them all and highly recommend them.  I am not a "romance" fan per say, but these are great!!!! I just have a bit of envy when reading them, must be nice to be married to the hottest & richest man in the universe... :)

on a 5 star rating system with no half stars, i almost always give the In Death series 4 stars.  that's pretty consistent quality, and i almost never give anything 5 stars.

i think they really are that good.  they're best read in order, and if you aren't hooked after the first two, then probably it's not worth continuing.

Add me to the fan list.  Naked in Death is just wonderful, I think it just sucks you in.  Plus they just get better with additional characters.  There is real growth in the series.  When a new book comes out it is like getting to visit good friends.

I read the first one and thought it was a total drag.  I wanted to like it, but the detective storyline was slow, and I wasn't feeling an ounce of chemistry between the romantic leads. Sorry!

But then I'm not a big fan of Nora Roberts other than her early stuff, so if you're really into her other books and like detective stories then it's worth a try.

I'm just about to read the last one in PB, Creation In Death. I have been reading the series off and on for the last year or so and I LOVE it. I think the 4.5 stars is right on. I also think her writing as Robb and her writing as Roberts is really different but I still love them both.

The In Death books just get better and better IMHO. :)

I have a question about these - I just started listening to the audio of 'naked in death', the 1st one and I'm guessing she ends up with this rich guy-Roark- but in the other books in the series are there lots of problems between them? I'm just wondering if the remaining books just hve her investigating murders and such or if there's a lot of tension/breaking up with her and the rich hunk...ok to pm me if you think the answer will be a spoiler!

There are a lot of relationship issues between them, which is what I find the most interesting facet of the books.  They're an awesome couple.

I'd say with the exception of the first couple books, the issues between Eve and Roarke are resolved over the course of the book. The first two kind of establish their relationship prior to their marriage.

I think some issues resurface because of inherent personality conflicts - they are both very tough and protective of each other, she's a cop, he's a former criminal - but the books never end on a doubtful note. Each is complete in itself.

Susanna...

Are you listening to an abridged version? The reason I ask is I listened to the first three (abridged) after reading the books and the abridged version leaves out a couple of important elements. If you like the stories I recommend eventually reading them to get it all.

I've read the first three and I am glad I took everyone's advise and started reading them in order.  I was a little concerned about the futuristic setting (I'm not a big fan of sci-fi) but it's not offputting at all.

Give me some visuals, who do you think could be Eve and Roarke?  He sounds so yummy and she's a strong woman who has accepted love from the man she loves.  I like how their romance has progressed, he just "knows her".
