I just received a PM from a sender that she's been out of work for months and doesn't have money for postage and I should cancel the transaction. However, the book was marked mailed by the sender on 6/26 so I don't see any way I could cancel even if I was willing. I'm not since that would mean that I would lose my place in the WL line.

I checked the Help Docs, but didn't see anything to resolve this particular situation--I apologize if I overlooked it somehow. I can't cancel it now, I don't *think* she can cancel it after marking it mailed, marking it not received just prompts a screen telling me to be patient, and I can't legitimately mark it RWAP since it wasn't received. Is there anything I can do to just get this cancelled rather than being forced to wait for the book to go lost? I'd like to get back to the head of the WL sooner rather than later.

Only PBS can cancel a book that's been marked mailed.  You will get your credit back when the book goes lost.  But it's not fair for you to have to wait. I would contact PBS and see if they can reinstate you on the WL sooner.  Tell them about the PM which may also prompt them to tell her to not post books and mark them mailed if she can't afford to mail them out.

The sender will have to contact the site and tell that she didn't mail it and ask for them to cancel the transaction. If she doesn't get it cancelled, I would send a copy of her PM to site admin and ask them to contact her and take care of it so you don't have to sit and wait for it to go lost before you can get back into the WL line quickly.

Since it was a WL book, even if you could still cancel on your end you shouldn't. Make the poster (sender) cancel WL books otherwise you lose your place in line.

Thanks for the input! I'll do that.
