Limited members get 30 credits free swaps / year.  If these aren't  "used up" during the term of the membership, are the unused credits free swaps carried over if membership is renewed?  Or is it a "use them or lose them" scenario?

I sent this question to TPTB, but received no response.

update 3/5/15:  TPTB responded with great news.  They do not expire.  Follow this link to my post containing their response.

Limited members get 30 "swap fees" per year. They do not get 30 credits. Each request requires 1 credit and 1 swap fee.

I don't have an answer as to whether the free swap fees expire, but credits do not expire.

Oops, thanks for the correction, Cathy.  I meant Free Swaps, not credits.  I've updated the OP

and in thinking about this (now that my terminology has been fixed), I am pretty sure that the $12 / year is an annual membership fee that "includes 30 free swaps" which do not carry over.

I think it's just for 1yr during the membership. It's says 30 per year without Swap Fees.

Request 30 Books per year Without Swap Fees - No swap fee for your first 30 swaps per year! ($14.70 value) (note: you'll earn a Free swap fee each time you use PBS Printed Postage to send a book)

From what I've read on various threads, the free swaps earned with the membership do not roll over.  However, any you earn by using printed postage do roll over and should not be used by PBS until you have gone thru your 30 free swaps included with the membership.

my impression would be that if you are going through a full year and not swapping 30 times you might as well be ala carte. unless you want to post here. in which case you are paying 12$ to post and the swaps don't matter.

Strictly speaking, I'd say that when comparing a la cart to Standard and Limited, the $ you'd be paying to upgrade to posting privileges would be:

(yearly fee) - (# of books you request X $.49)

Since you either have to have a paid membership or pay the fee for each request.
