I'm just starting to read this series. I have read Redwall awhile back but than discovered that there are two different reading lists. You can read them in order written or in the chronological order of events. I have decided that  I would rather read them in the order of events taking place as order written seems to confusing for me in this series.

How did any of you read them? In order written, chronological order or in no order at all?

I read them as I found copies, which was almost no order (I think my first was The Outcast of Redwall).  I don't read the series anymore, but I did read a few of the later published books in order.

This series can be confusing if you read it in chronological order, only because you don't know why some characters (like Martin the Warrior) are important until you've actually read the first book, Redwall.  The books themselves stand alone pretty well, though.

Thanks for the reply! I'm hoping that because I did read Redwall, the way I'm reading now will make sense to me.  If not, I'll switch it up again. :)
