My turn finally came up for a highly wishlisted book but then I received a "cannot mail" notice from the shipper stating "I just lent it to a friend!".  (ARGH!)   If that isn't frustrating enough, when I looked at my wishlist I am now at #11 instead of number #1.  The notice I received says, "you have gone back to your previous place in the Wish List queue for the book" ....so why am I not #1 again?    I don't get it...

I think you should be at number 1. Is the list only 11 long - that is, are you in the back of the line? If so, that's probably a glitch, and somebody might be able to fix it if you PM the powers that be.

No, there are 380 people on the wishlist (New Moon by Stephanie Meyer).

well, now that's weird.... somehow I must have cycled back down to #1 because my turn just came up again.  Very strange.... but at least it worked itself out.

Maybe it's a book that has a lot of turnover in the system, or one that tends to have a # of cancellations.

It could be that a lot of people in front of you have RCs that are being declined, or have their account on hold quite a bit, so that you are being offered the book even though you are 11th in line.  That seems pretty far down, but with a WL that long I think it is a possibility.

Well it's close to a major Holiday. A lot of people probably have their accounts on hold because they don't have time to deal with PBS right now.  So between other books being marked RWP, going Lost, timing out or being cancelled, RCS and accounts going on and off hold-it could happen.  Or maybe someone posted it directly to you, bypassing FIFO and then loaned it to a friend.  Not a nice thing to do but you never know.

Where do you find the number indicating your place on the wait list for a wish list book?

LaTonya, you put your cursor on the little grey exclamation mark near the name of your book and it will tell you.
