I am confused...I know how to figure out how many copies are in the system as of right now but how do I tell where a book on my bookshelf is in line for requests....these are books I placed on my shelf in July.

Also for the new feature on the Bookshelf where books can be placed on hold.  Is it possible to post a book to my Bookshelf and have it immediately be on hold?   I would like to put some books on there that I bought recently and am planning to post soon.  However they are waitlisted and if I post them people on the Waiting List will be notified and I am not ready to send them yet.   I have done this with books that aren't waitlisted b/c I just posted them and then went to my bookshelf and placed them on hold.

Thanks,   Cheryl

There is no way to know hwere you are in FIFO line for books posted.

And to post books to your shelf that are wishlisted and you want to put a hold on, just but your bookshelf on a vacation hold, post the books, place them on hold, and then go remove the vacation hold.

Thanks Layne.  That will work out great.

Do you know if there's a reason why they don't let you know where you are in the FIFO line?  Or how many copies there are in the system when you look up a book?    Just curious.....

I know I would love to know how many books are listed or where I am in the FIFO line (like the WL) but they may not do it so people don't get frustrated at being 300 out of 300, although depending on the book it could move faster

One reason they don't include your place in line is that if you have a profile and have your bookshelf available for people to browse, people can order directly from you (thus bypassing FIFO).

You can also promote your shelf by offering deals in the Bazaar.

Members can also order multiple books from you if they place an order with you.

Jane, that may be true BUT if someone orders from another shelf that is #10 and you are #20, you would still move up once that book was ordered.  So they could tell you where you are in the FIFO line because that would be easy to track

You're right, but my point was that your place in FIFO is not necessarily indicative of when/if your book will be ordered. Also, removal of books from the FIFO line might not indicate actual orders. It might be that people just gave up and removed the book from their bookshelves, so it could appear that more books are being ordered than actually are.

very true Jane, I think I'd be happy to see my book moving up whether it is being ordered or not!  that means I'm closer to being #1 in the FIFO line

To be able to run more than 1 bookshelf. Then I could place all my Romance books on one shelf, all the mysteries on another, etc.

I sent the suggestion in and got a reply as to using the search button. That still does not work well to me.

Oh well, the system is free, so I am not complaining to loudly, I hope.
