I know I have emails that are a couple months old with questions about the bazaar. I didn't want to answer those and risk repeating answers someone already gave you, due to my tardiness.

So whats been going on in the Bazaar?  What do we need to talk about?  What do we need to have a reminder about?  Once I get that info from you guys, I'll post one of my "gentle reminders"

You can send me a pm, leave a note here or I'm on facebook as well. I will give it a couple days to get everyone's thoughts and questions before I post a big reminder or Q and A.

Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas!  I apologize for life being busy, and it was not even fun or interesting busy. *lol*

I agree, the bazaar is great.  I haven't looked at it as much as I used to because people don't seem to put what type of books they have in their title.  That makes it easier to choose which posts to look at.  Thanks for  all you do!

Hi Bernie !  Happy New Year !

Some thoughts :

Could you gently remind folks to put some info in their title as to what type of books they have and what the deal is?

Please remind folks to only post 1 deal a day and bump once a day.

Thanks !!

How about when a post is over, the person completely wipes out the title with just spacing or dots or just a simple "thanks" with nothing else.  This way the post does not have to be deleted but we are not tempted to enter it again.

Thank you all for the suggestions - Keep them coming!

I will address the matter of deleting posts. The powers that be have decided NOT to allow folks to do that. A programing issue, and they have enough stuff to do. So that will never happen in here. I agree, it would be fabolous if we could. In theory, the older posts just drop to the bottom of the page. So if nobody posts in that thread, it will keep going to the bottom of the page.  Its something I have asked for several times, but we will just have to deal wtih the fact its a "perk" that won't happen in here.

I would love if for the new year, everyone would put the types of books in their posts. It saves folks from having to go to a shelf they have no interest in. When I do my reminder, I will suggest that again. I'm sure the folks who have been in the Bazaar forever, will agree that it is something I have been trying to have happen for years.

I've been out of touch in here for a while now, so let me know what other concerns and thoughts you guys have!

Maybe do a limit on the bumping? Some people bump every single day for WEEKS on end, and I find that a bit tiring. But others may not, so it may NOT be something to consider!

There is a limit on bumping, a post can only be bumped once a day. As tiring as that is, its better than it was before. Some folks used to bump every HOUR! We had to really nip that in the bud. One person bumped their post 9x's in ONE DAY. So they powers that be, decided it was ok to bump once a day.

IMHO, if I bumped my post for several days and had no takers, I would just stop.

Maybe a reminder about not offering or looking for postable WL books here?  I still see posts from time to time with people offering books here that are WLed and also people asking for books on their WL.

I also agree with the putting the type of books offered in the subject.  Its really helpful :)

If have some comments

  • People don't put  what type of book they are offering in their title
  • Their is not always a time frame stated for when the deal ends
  • If books are taken they are not always crossed off  to let others know they are gone.
  • People asking for deals on wish list books.

I do not agree with not being able to list the wishlisted books,  I have at least two books that are wishlisted.  My books have a different ISBN#, If I did not put it on the Bazaar, some people might not know that there are copies of the books they want.  It seems a shame that I have a book that 43 people have on their wish list but no way to tell them I have it.

I also wish that when a deal or offer that I make is fulfilled that there is not way to delete my offer and the thread that follows.

Thanks

What I meant with the WL comment was

This version of the Kite Runner should not be offered in the bazaar because it is WLed by 9 people.  It should be posted so the first person in line gets it.

But say you have This version of the Kite Runner which currently has over 300 copies in the system.  I see no problem with posting a thread like you're saying stating you have a different version of a WLed book available.

Telling people you have alternate versions of WLed books available on your shelf should be ok but offering titles that actually are WLed shouldn't be ok because it is skipping over the people in line.  Or something like that anyway :)  I believe the caffiene has worn off and I am speedily heading toward the incoherent rambling portion of the evening......

I've about reached that point myself on bumping.  When you bump for several days and no one responds, it feels discouraging...I've begun to space my bumping at times to every couple of days to see if that might help but nope, it doesn't seem to.  I really don't have any complaints, per say, I love the BB!!! :)  These were just my thoughts, Bernie and nothing more.  :)

Ok, this is the last day for suggestions. Keep them coming. I will work up a reminder thing in the next day or two.

What about a sticky for borrowing credits, and a sticky for selling credits?  IMHO Sometimes those two requests really clog up the board.

Also, it would be nice if deals had their genres in the subject line.  Sometimes it seems like there's a really good deal and you go to the shelf and it's all romance, for example.  I don't read Harlequins, and had I known that was all someone had, I wouldn't have looked.  I have a shelf with a little of everything, and I try to make sure it's in the subject line if not in the text of the deal.

I totally agree.  It's the book bazaar not the credit bazaar.

The powers that be won't allow any more stickey threads in here. We have what we have. I have tried to get more added, but it will never happen.

I've tried to put genres in my subject lines for this reason. :)  On a good note, I was really impressed to see stickies in the varied genre forums for book deals! :) I really think that helped organize them quite well.  :)

Bernie, I have been really impressed out how well people are following the guidelines, such as only one bump per day or only one thread per day.  For a while there, people weren't following those rules, so thank you for staying on top of things!
