I sent a book out yesterday at 2, and usually by 9 or 10 that night I get an email saying I have a credit. Well so far I've gotten nothing. Is there a problem with the system?

There are a lot of moving parts in the quick credit system. Your P.O. has to scan the book, then they have to upload the scan to the master database, then PBS has to get the scan info from there (not sure if the P.O. pushes the data or PBS pulls it, but either way it will happen at a scheduled time), then PBS has to process the data and credit the accounts. There could be a delay on the P.O. side, or a problem on the Internet, or a problem with the PBS computers.

It sounds like your P.O. does a nightly upload that gets batched over to PBS around 9:00. If you know for sure your book was scanned, then I'd wait until the second 9:00PM had passed before sending an inquiry.

We always need to remember that the PO does NOT have to scan the package until it's delivered since it IS Delivery Confirmation we are paying for.   It seems to me that the PO is doing less scanning until delivery now than they used to.

Ashley;  did  your PO scan the book when you mailed it?  If so, you should get your credit today or tomorrow.  If not, you may have to wait until it is scanned on the way, or at delivery.

The way I always get my PO to scan when I bring the book to be mailed is to bring it without postage and then they will  weigh it and scan the DC and tell you how much to pay.  I used to bring my books in WITH postage and that's when I had problems....they did not want to scan.

I always take every single book to the post office so I know they scanned it, and it was scanned. That's why I find it odd that it's taken so long. Think Harry Potter had anything to do with this?

Although usually I get my DC credits the same day, I have had it take up to a day or two to get them...  even when they were scanned at the time of mailing.   Don't worry, you should have it within the next couple days.  I figure it's probably just some computer glitch between the PO and PBS that happens every once in awhile.
