Yesterday, I brought in eight books to the PO with PBS D/C. I saw the clerk scan each book, but I haven't received my quick credits as yet. It still says Quick Credit pending. How long does it usually take? I've done this about 3 other times and it didn't take this long.

Connie the help docs says it can take up to 48 hours ...I can't find the supporting information, so when I do I will post the info:).  However below explains how it works.  I have waited overnight sometimes. Also, this has not happened to me, but if you mark the books mailed after you drop them at the PO, if the scans are uploaded to the PBS website, you will not receive the quick credit until the next scan.  I will come back and post the links to the help docs.

When will I get my Quick Credit?  (I hope this link works)  if not http://www.paperbackswap.com/help/search.php?terms=quick+credits

I don't know if this helps, but I marked the books mailed before my trip to the PO.

Then the quick credit will be active when PBS receives a upload of the scans from your PO.  I mailed yesterday a bunch of books early in the morning and I received my quick credtis around 8pm (if I remember properly).

It sounds like your post office is just slow in uploading their scans to the USPS. You can always check the USPS website and if they have no scans, then PBS will have no scans; its a USPS issue not a PBS issue. If the USPS website has scans that are more than 24 hours old and PBS doesn't have them, then it is a PBS issue and you should use the Contact Us and have the Team look into it.

I went to the USPS website and put my Label/Receipt Numbers into the Track and Confirm section. Everytime it said "Delivery status information is not available for your item via this web site."  It isn't quite 24 hours yet since I mailed the books. From the tips on the help docs it sounds like it's better to mark your books mailed before going to the PO to have them scanned. I did this.

I usually mail books late in the afternoon and get my QC very late the same evening - however I still haven't gotten QC on the 3 books I mailed yesterday afternoon... and usually by now I would have...

Well, it has definitely been 24 hours since I had my books scanned and no quick credits as yet. This post office has bickered, and bickered with me over PBS D/C before as mentioned in my other post. Yesterday, the clerk that scanned my books told me that they emailed their regional postmaster about my books and hadn't heard anything. as yet. After my free D/C trials on here, I really thought that I would like this feature, but with all that has been happening it has rather turned out to be a nightmare.

I really wanted to use this feature but now I am wondering if it is worth it. It has only caused me stress, all from my post office. I'm wondering though if this is happening to others on here that we don't know about because they don't post on here. Out of 46 books that are enroute to me right now, only 10 have used D/C.

Connie - maybe it has to do with the email delays - if PBS is having problems with their system this could be impacting the uploads.   I want to say that they had a problem with quick credits recently in the past.  Computers will sometimes grow their own brains if you know what I mean.  I think if you don't see them by tonight I would contact PBS and let them know.  -Jubead

I don't use DC very often, but I have recently and the QC has been uploaded in the early evening of the day I posted the books.  I watch the clerk scan the books.  I've never had any of my postal clerks question the DC from PBS.  Wonder why yours are?  Pat

Thanks Jubead. After, I wrote my last reply, I checked out my 'Watch this discussion' and that very thread came up with the weird email etc. things that have been going on today. I forgot about that and am now thinking it could be involved with the other things that are going on wrong here. At least I'm hoping that it is. When I checked out the labels on the USPS website, they did say the delivery info wasn't available on their website. So, I'm assuming that means PBS would. I'm crossing my fingers and hoping you're right.

That's what I'm wondering Pat! Why do my postal clerks (all except one) have such a hissy fit over PBS D/C. There was one poster in mind that mentioned her clerks loved the fact that her D/C was already on her wrapper and they didn't have to put one on. All they had to do was scan it. I'm just assuming that my clerks are very uninformed on PO regulations and haven't been trained on these things by their postmaster. I think in this day and age they need to get up on these things. This is a very busy post office with a long line every time I go there. I don't get it.

Hi Connie - I found it (YAY)   I thought I was going crazy - but it can take a few days for quick credit to show up ....from help docs.

The timing of QuickCredit varies with your mailing method, and the scanning policy of your local PO.  QuickCredit can be granted hours after mailing, or it can take a few days.

I think if there is activity on USPS then it is PBS, if not then your post office has uploaded the scans.  Maybe they were having problems (your  PO) with their scans?  I would let PBS know if you don't see something tonight or tomorrow.  I would also check back with USPS tracking.  I actually sign up for the email and when they update their site, I get a email - I don't have to remember which is very faulty nowadays.

I used DC on 3 bulk book orders yesterday and all the credits were there by the evening.

I mailed 2 books on Thursday, no QC yet.  Sort of glad it's not just me, sort of annoyed that it's not an across-the-board issue.

ETA:
PBS "details" button still just says electronig shipping info received.
USPS website says:
Detailed Results:

Bullet Processed through Sort Facility, October 10, 2009, 11:03 am, KANSAS CITY, KS 66106
Bullet Processed through Sort Facility, October 09, 2009, 12:32 am, FOREST PARK, IL 60130
Bullet Acceptance, October 08, 2009, 5:19 pm
Bullet Electronic Shipping Info Received, October 07, 2009

The package is supposed to end up somewhere in KS.  At this rate, I'll get the credit from the member marking it received, not from the QC!

Yay! I finally received all the quick credits from Thursday except for 2 books. The ones that I finally got the QC's from waited until they got scanned in Warrendale, PA. I am never going to complain about my books going all the way to Warrendale again! lol I was beginning to worry that they got lost or something. I guess I just have to be patient, but I got used to getting the QC within just a few hours.

Purvi, I would contact PBS and let them know.  If you miss the first scan you should receive it from the additional.  Also it is different facilities updating - so something doesn't seem right.  This is just a suggestion - but if it were me I would check it out with PBS.

Connie - patience is not one of my strengths. It is nice to discuss it with someone - makes waiting easier sometimes -IMO.  Glad you got your credits!

I have one with PBS postage/DC that I mailed Thursday that has showed no updates either. Usually mine get scanned in the Mpls distribution center within 24 hours, but nothing so far. Maybe there's something wonky with Thursday's scans not getting to PBS from USPS?

I went to check at the USPS site and got a message saying "Due to system upgrades, Track and Confirm is currently unavailable." So maybe their system upgrades are interfering with communications between the two sites, too. Who knows?

OK, I mailed a package of 3 books over 48 hours ago, used PBS-DC, still no QC.  Is anyone else still having problems?  If so, I'll just wait. But if it's just me, I'll contact PBS.  The USPS website says there's been one additional scan since acceptance on the package.

If the USPS website says it's been scanned (not Electronic Shipping Info Received, but Accepted or En Route), then give PBS a few hours before contacting them. I am thinking they get the scan records about 4 times a day, because I've seen them show up in the middle of the day and in the evening. So if it doesn't appear in your account within 6 hours, it would be reasonable to send a feedback message asking about the problem.

Purvi, I did contact PBS and it took them a while to respond. Meanwhile, my DC credits did finally come up when the books reached Warrendale, PA., which seems to be the facility where all my media mail goes. By the time that PBS responded they noticed that I did get the quick credits, so they may have been wondering as much as I did. There were two books that I sent first class with D/C and they didn't come up until the they were almost delivered. I'm just used to getting them within a few hours. I guess I just have to practice being patient as they finally did go through.

Your books regularly go through Warrendale Connie?  I'm so sorry...Warrendale is one of those black holes for Media Mail  :(

No idea what USPS is up to, but my Media Mail is noticably slower the last week or two.  Not only delivery, but as noted in OP some of my USPS counter scans (with postage purchase) weren't credited the same evening, as would be the usual.  Didn't receive credit for over 24 hours...maybe when they were processed at the sorting center.

I used to use PBS DC before the days of Preprinted Postage, and I would almost never receive a "Quick Credit".  My mail was never scanned until day of delivery (apparently the regional postal hub near me doesn't scan), and so my DC credit would always arrive almost the same time as if a member had quickly marked the books as received...

(So, realizing that, I was using the PBS DC for the credit guarantee, and not for the Quick Credit aspect of the service...)

The relative "slowness" of the quick credits is why I went all the way to PBS postage once it became available! Credit instantly and I don't have to waste time and gas to go to the post office anymore!
