i mailed a book with DC/quick credit for the first time today. the label was printed at 9:30 AM, and i mailed the book at about 12:30 PM. i noticed that i got my credit before i left the house to mail the package (the official time that the info was received was 11 AM). the waypoint on the transaction archive map states that the time the package left my town was noon.

in reading the help documents, there is some discussion about not getting your credit if too much time lapses after the PO scans the barcode before you mark the package mailed. how is it possible that i got credit before i even dropped the book in the blue bin outside of the PO? and why does the waypoint time state a time that i am pretty sure prededes when i actually dropped the book off at the PO? how does that usually work for you guys who have done this a lot?

I'm thinking that if you used electronic postage and you marked the book mailed it will give you the quick credit.  I know when I use DC and I take mine to the PO and then mark it mailed I will get my credit shortly have that; but because you (I am assuming) used electronic postage, you will get the credit quicker.

Susan,

Did you use PBS postage/DC and get instant credit, or did you use PBS DC and get quick credit?  If you use PBS postage/DC, you get your credit as soon as you mark the book mailed.

Oops, just read Shelly's post and she said almost same thing.  :-)

You're right Shelly.  When you use PBS postage, you get your credit right when you mark the book mailed.

Oops - cross posted!  lol

OK, i used the wrong term, and therefore was reading the wrong part of the help section.

i got instant credit once i marked the book as having been mailed (even though i had not left yet, but was on my way within a short time to drop off the book at the PO).

if i had used a different method of mailing, i would have gotten quick credit, which only would have been credited after it was scanned by the PO and the info transmitted to PBS.

the terms are a little confusing.

thanks for your input!

And you only get quick credit if you use PBS Delivery Confirmation.

now i know why i used the term quick credit: when i hover over the check mark on the books i have sent list on my account, it says "quick credit".
