I have a book that's just over 9 oz. and will probably be about 10 once I wrap it. I want to send it Media Mail. Can I just use regular stamps to send this?

And can I just drop it in a blue box, or leave it in my own mail box for my carrier to get?

Thanks!

You can use stamps for any amount, including media mail.

If the package is under 13oz, you can use stamps and put it in a blue box and/or your mail box.

If the package is over 13 oz and you use stamps, you have to take it to the Post Office and hand it to a clerk.

Although it sounds like not every post office follows/understand/whatever these policies.

Which is why I now use Paypal to mail everything.

Yes, like Peg posted.  Media Mail under 13 oz. can be mailed with stamps from any mail facility and/or drop-box.

Thanks! I thought so, but it helps to have clarification from people who mail more than I do/

I was wondering if any of you can tell me if I have to mark the box or package in anyway to show it is media mail. Most I send out are regular or first class, but I have some I want to send media mail. I print my own postage at home and can give it to my mail carrier or stick in a blue box, but wanted to make sure if there is anything I have to mark so they know it is media mail. I appreciate it.

Welcome to PBS Stephenie!   Yes, you will want to mark your books Media Mail.  It usually appears on the lower right corner of the shipping labels, otherwise just write it in clearly with a marker.  Anywhere near the label should be good.
