I have the above request currently on my "book son the way to you" page. i think this must be close to the quickest possible request to mailing. Have you seen quicker?

(And, I don't want to open the "but it's not actually mailed yet" discussion. I'm accepted they marked it this way since they were about to wrap & head out the door with it, and it is going to end up in the mail today :-)

That's really fast.  I've had requests pop up while I'm online, but I've never responded that fast.

I've seen requests pop up also and could have done the same. I usually let them sit at least an hour though, just in case they want to take a look at my bookshelf and order something else. It happens sometimes.

Sometimes I will accept a request, print a label and say it is mailed all in one stroke.  i will then walk the package out to my rural mail box, put the flag up and at 10:00 the next morning its gone.

I give them at least 5 minutes to see if they add anything else...and I don't do printable postage so I'd feel funny marking it mailed before I'd gone to the post office.

Some people have limited access to computers/internet. I can see someone who relies on the library or public WIFI posting a WL book that was on autorequest then accessing the address and marking it mailed so they don't have to worry about getting internet access again in time.  It's allowed as long as they mail it within 2 days.

I rarely use printed posted but I will mark a book mailed once it's wrapped up and ready to go.  But I usually just slap stamps on them and put them in the mail box. I can't remember the last time I took a book to the post office.
