This is another of the Elm Creek Quilter books that focuses on the past. This is the story of Elizabeth Nelson, Sylvia's cousin, who moves to California in thee 1920s. Of course, there are quilts woven into the story and a compelling story it is. Very enjoyable chapter of Sylvia's family.

This book alternates its story line from the main characters, Elizabeth and Henry Nelson in the 1920's, to the previous owners of a California ranch in the late 1800's forward. As the stories progress, we see how the various relationships between the people around the Nelson's came to be and we see the young married couple handle the adversity that comes their way. A pleasant story that was easy to read and that had (in my opinion) a happy ending.
