I enjoy PBS but am unable to continue after my current books are sent and received.  Can someone tell me how to delete my account, please?

this is from the Help link:

A simple message to us with the request to close the account is all that is needed.

  • There is no minimum number of swaps necessary before an account can be closed.
  • You can easily suspend your account temporarily by putting your bookshelf on hold.
    • This will not put club emails on hold
    • This will not affect ongoing (already active) transactions
    • This will not affect Box-O-Books; Box-O-Books needs to be paused separately.

The reason a member cannot close his or her account automatically is because we have to check for outstanding requests. It would be unfair to other members to leave items incomplete. Once a member requests cancellation, we close the account and handle outstanding items.

If you close your account and wish to have it reopened later, just send us another message.

You know, you don't HAVE to leave.  An option to consider:  Perhaps you could put your account on Vacation Hold for a while, and then come back and activate your account when you are able to participate again.  It may be a viable option for you, especially if you anticipate that you could come back here before a year has passed.  (Vacation Hold isn't really a good option if you cannot check in at least one time during a year.  After a year of inactivity, the automated system kicks in to start to close down an account  (credits forfeited, etc.)

From the Terms of Use:  An account may be deemed "dormant" when no items have been ordered, shipped, or purchased within any 1 year period. Dormant accounts may be closed and any accumulated Book Credits forfeited without compensation to the account holder.

But, if you don't want to leave and you could check in once in a while, you could put your account on Vacation Hold and not need to worry about it, and then come off of hold when you could participate here again.

I wonder how accurate that 1 yr thing is judging by all the inactive accounts out there that don't seem to have done anything in years.

You can also ask the Admin Team to suspend your account.  Then you can reactivate it easily.
