Amanda W. (xninhal0x) reviewed Quotes for Kids: Today's Interpretations of Timeless Quotes Designed to Nurture the Young Spirit on
From Independent Publisher
Quotes for Kids is a wonderful book using well-known quotes from famous people and not so well-known quotes from not so famous people. The author gives one or more interpretation of each quote, some of which are illustrated by clever line drawings. For instance, in the section on "Love and Kindness": "Love is the most important ingredient of success. Without it, our life echoes emptiness. With it, our life vibrates warmth and meaning. Even in hardship, love shines through. Therefore, search for love. Once we have learned to love, we will have learned to live." (Anonymous). One of the author's interpretations is: "Say someone you love is working really hard in the yard. Wow, he looks thirsty, so you take him a tall glass of water. When he says thank you, doesn't it make you feel glad you brought the drink? Absolutely! Acts of love in motion: Working in the yard shows he cares. You show your love by bringing the water." This thought-provoking book would be beneficial to children and young adults who today are inundated with violence and other negative behavior in the media, and sometimes in their own families. But adults also will enjoy and learn from the quotes on Beauty, Character, Communicating, Emotions, Forgiveness, Problem Solving, etc. A sequel to Quotes for Kids for younger children, using more anecdotal examples to illustrate how one can show love, build character, etc., would be most welcome.
