I received another RC for a book I posted asking to make sure HC books are mailed with their dust cover.  No problem except this is a former library book so the the dust cover is one of those plasticized ones--everything is present.  I PM'd them and asked for response by a certain date if they did not still want me to send.  But how do you feel in general.....do the plastic covers count as an ok dust cover?

I would say it definitely meets the requirements.  If I'm understanding correctly, it IS the dust jacket, just covered in that plastic protector sheet.  If they stated no ex library books, then I see the issue.  As you described things though, I think you should be ok.

I've never had anyone complain about the plastic covering over a DJ on an ex-library book. For myself, I prefer the plastic cover. It tends to save the DJ from harm. Pat

I also see nothing wrong with that. They want the dust cover, they get the dust cover. As long as they don't specify "no ex-library", you are good.

Yes, it's fine, no PM required. I have a dust jacket RC myself, and i don't mention ex-library books because I don't care about ex-library, I only care about the dust jacket. I abhor naked books.

Sara - I agree about the 'nekked' books, although I don't have an RC, I also prefer the DJ and when I get a book without one, it seems like an orphan book. LOL. Pat

one hicky is the libraries that tape the jacket onto the boards of the book. Some people don't like that.

That's why someone might want to have an RC regarding ex-library books. If they don't have one, then no problem. I think it can be problematic PMing a requestor about things you think they might not like...you get stuck waiting for an answer and they might not come to the site except when they are offered a book and you are left hanging. As long as it meets the posting guidelines there is no need to PM unless you have posted under the Textbook Exception and then you must disclose it.

Same here.  I have a dust-jacket RC and if there's an additional plastic covering over the paper dust cover, that's perfectly fine.

Your book does have a dust jacket, it's in the mylar cover.  If the requestor doesn't like it, they can easiy remove the mylar sleeve and just use the naked dust jacket.
