I posted 2 kids books that were put on WL holds. Yesterday one person requested one of them but not the other so I assumed they were on hold for different people. No RC came with the 1st book & I wrapped it up to mail today. Then this morning the 2nd book got requested with RC concerning the dust jacket & more. My book met the criteria but when I printed the address I saw both books are going to the same person.  No RC came with the 1st book & that book does not have the dust jacket. I sent them a message about this & am still waiting to hear back.

Is it normal to have RC for some requests & not others?

If they decide they don't want the books does this reflect badly on my account? I've already had one member say the book I had was not the one she wanted & I canceled that transaction.

If they decline my books is there a way to block them from requesting from me again once I put them back into the system?

I'm a little irriated since I already wasted my time & supplies on wrapping the 1st book but I'll get over it. I AM glad I caught it before mailing but I don't understand waiting an entire day before requesting the 2nd WL book. I'm pretty new here & have not had any problems yet.

Thanks!

Sometimes people will turn on and off their RCs depending on what books they are ordering.  If a person is collecting a series to keep and they find a book in the series, they will turn RCs on before ordering... and then after the order turn them back off.

I did not know you could turn it on & off. Thanks, I'll still wait to hear back to make sure they want them though. They sounded really picky even though I'm sure my books meet their criteria except for the one dust jacket.

Did you PM the person? That sounds too coincidental - and it sounds like maybe it's a system glitch. PM them and make sure that person ordered both books.

Well this doesn't explain the RC thing but it's possible that they were originally on hold for 2 different people.  Then the 2nd book was declined and it's just a coincidence the 2nd person line was the same as the one getting the other book.  Or maybe the only had 1 credit and were waiting for a book to be marked received or a WL book they posted to be accepted so they could get a credit before they could accept the 2nd.

If the books aren't from the same series or author then it's possible like the other person said that they only care about the dust jacket for the 1st book.  Maybe that's going to be a gift for someone else or a collection.

I did PM them but was hoping to hear back before I ran my errands today. You guys have given me other possibilities that I never thought of. I can buy glitches & coincidences. These are not the same authors or series. I was surprised they were WL when I posted them. I had thought they'd be on my shelf for awhile.

I guess I'm still curious if it looks bad on my account if they decline? Does that info even show up somewhere? Sorry, I have not had a lot of time to play around on the site.

If they deline or cancel a transaction it has no bearing on your account.  If it's WL you should cancel and ask them to turn their RCS back on so you can repost the book, decline for RCS and it'll go to the next person in line. If they cancel they'll lose their place in the WL line. If they're the only wisher than it doesn't matter who cancels.

It's also OK to turn down requests for RCS.

If you have to cancel a transaction for some reason it doesn't go against you unless it's a habitual thing.

I had a WL offer yesterday.  This is the 2nd time I"ve been offered this book.  2 wks ago someone posted the book, I accepted and then they let ti time out. Today I checked to make sure it wasn't the same person. It wasn't and the one who let it time out apprears to still be a member. At least I can access their shelf and WL So PBS didnt' close them down for letting my book time out.

Thank you so much for taking the time to explain it to me!
