For non-computer types, what I'm asking is: If I have an RC and request a book, and then I change the RC before the reqest is accepted by the person who has listed the book, does that person see the old RC or the new RC?

Evelyn, I believe the RC that is active when you place the request is the one that the sender sees, but I don't have a source for that information.

Elizabeth is correct - RCs remain in place as stated when the request is made. This enables members to turn off their RCs for subsequent requests, or to edit their RCs when necessary regarding specfiic titles or editions. If you would like to edit the RCs for a book already requested, you'd have to cancel the request, change the RC, and then re-request the title (NOTE: this is, of course, not advisable when the book in question was a Wish List offer, as re-requesting the book wouldn't be possible until the member has once again gone from the back of the WL line to the front)

Thanks to all.  I had an RC for a specific request because I couldn't tell from the picture whether it was the book I wanted--the picture didn't even seem to be a book!--and there was no description.  (It's ISBN-10 0000021334, if anyone cares.)  I wanted to make sure it was the book, but there didn't seem to be a way to PM the poster without requesting the book.

Evelyn, that's not a viable ISBN in the system (needs 10 or 13 digits, not 12), so I can't see what you're looking at.  But when there's a question, I find it helpful to look up the book on other websites, such as WorldCat.org, for confirming information.

I found it. It looks like the brush roller for a vacuum  cleaner. Hardcover, LOL.  I don't think this is  a book . If you have ordered it; you should be able to send a PM.

It looks like a mistake in Amazon's catalog that was picked up by PBS.

(It's ISBN-10 0000021334, if anyone cares.)

PBS assigns 5 digit numbers to books that have no ISBN. Is that what you are trying to order? ISBN 21334? Because that is an actual book posted here, without a ISBN.

I knew that was a made-up-for-PBS ISBN, but it's listed in the ISBN-10 field so that's how I gave it.

(By the way, if anyone is wondering how you can get more than 200 items on your wish list, if you have 200, then request a book not on your wish list that is supposedly available and it times out, it gets added as the 201st.)
