I mailed a book on 11/23. PM'd last week to say that if it had not been received, perhaps WI's funky checking rules had caused a delay and that I hoped it would be received soon. I checked this a.m. and "This member's account is currently suspended or closed."

Does the book just go "lost?" The member obviously can't mark it received. I didn't use dc, just APC postage. I presume I lose my credit as well as the book?

PBS will automatically mark the book received a few days before it would've gone lost and you'll get your credit.  If the book goes lost and you don't get a credit automatically, contact the team.

This is only true for accounts that have been suspended/closed.

It might not to be the worst idea to PM TPTB just to make sure they're on top of things.

I have to disagree with that. There's a reason why the "not" is bolded in "Please do not contact us before this date." In a large system like this, everything happens automatically. Let it happen and only report problems if it doesn't. Otherwise you're just making extra work for the people who manage the site.

I wouldn't contact them unless it's marked lost.   The suspension could be temporary due to something beyond the other members control: like a dead computer or power outage that kept them from responding to some transactions or something.  One time there was a member that had a major car accident and was hosptilized for a couple of weeks.  They suspended her account because she had a bunch of pending book orders that timed out and WL offers she didn't respond to.  When she came back and contacted them they restored her account and credits.

UPDATE: it isn't automatic. The book was declared lost and the email I received said I lost my credit since I hadn't used PBS d/c. The member's account is still suspended or closed, so I have sent an email through "Contact Us" as it doesn't seem correct that I as a member in good standing would lose a credit for sending a book in good faith to someone who has subsequently lost or given up her privileges here.

I have that same issue, my book is scheduled to go lost on 12/24.

I hope it works out well for you.

Although it wasn't automatic, the response to my inquiry was FAST and I have received my credit.

Hi, great news from PaperbackSwap.com! The formerly lost book 'Day by Day: Daily Meditations for Recovering Addicts' by Anonymous that you mailed has now been received by the other member. You have received 1 credit for mailing this book, which means you can request another book for your reading pleasure!

So, JonnieAngel, don't forget to use the "Contact Us" button if your's isn't automatic.
