I hear on these lists that the reminder list will be discontinued. I am sure people use the reminder list many differant ways, and to some it will not matter much. I do use it to notate books that, honestly, could be on my wish list, but I am just not ready to put them there 'yet', so, for those, the discontinuing is fine. But I also use it for books that are in the system, and I want to remeber to order later. I do not want a TBR pile at home 600 high. I am looking for alternatives, and have just discovered that shelfari, which i use to list books I have read throughout life (it is fun to try to remeber what books I've read and be able to log them) has a 'wish list'. I am transfering over my reminder list from here to my wish list on shelfari. I don't belong to Libary thing, but when I wish list books on shelfari they are added to my 'shelf total', which feels kind of cheating to me, so I may sign up for library thing and see if they have a wish list, too, where I could keep my two lists more seperate. For others who use thier reminder list for something very differant than the wish list - what are you planning to do when it is gone?

teehee Brandi. I have sticky notes so old that they have lost their stickyness!

This sounds like a great idea Latricia for a way to keep my Reminders as just that. There was a time when I was unable to purchase books so there are lots of great books posted here at PBS that I have still not gotten around to reading, and like you, my TBR pile is already huge. I thought that I could make do with just printing out the list but then I will be right back to paper and pen. I do not want to spend the time to make a spread sheet. I work enough with spread sheets at my job.

I think I'm just going to tag them.

Write it down on a piece of paper or just forget about it.  I've been sticking books on there that are in the system but I want to remember to order later.  Don't want to order them all now.  I guess when the RL is gone I won't be ordering any of those books.

The RL is used a lot for remembering books for various reasons, to see how many of that title or ISBN are in the system, as a way to keep gift ideas in one place, books I do not want to buy and remember not to order it, and a lot more.  I just can't remember them all right now.  The beauty of the RL is it's here in this system, and I don't want to be going to different web-sites to compare things.   It's especially useful to keep books I know I'm going to want later, and I want to know how many are in the system without going and looking somewhere else for the ISBN or title.  If there's only 1 then it might be a priority to order it...if it has none in the system - then I want to know when there are some.  this way my WL isn't cluttered up with "maybe's" or "laters".  It boils down to - I'm comfortable with this system and I don't want it changed!  Onething that would be nice is being able to sort our books on lists by genre!  I'd really like that!

Why not just open a notepad file (or comparable simple text program) on your computer and save your list there?  You can copy/paste all title/author/ISBN info directly into the file, click "save" and there you go. A running list.

As for Library Thing -- I don't believe there is a way to keep a separate wish list. I recall being extremely disappointed when I looked at the library of the member with the most titles listed -- nearly all were WANTED books, not books actually in that person's library. Seems like cheating, to me. :) OTOH, if you wanted, you could use LT for your reminder list only. Esp. since you already have a Shelfari list.
