:-(   RIP

Some of my all-time favorites are Eddings' Belgariad and Mallorean series.

I'm sorry to hear he died.  He was by and far my favorite fantasy author of all time.  He will be truly missed.

I won't miss him. His early stuff was good, wicked good in fact. But after the Elenium trilogy, it just sucked. At least we won't be getting any more "The Dreamers" type stuff...

I really liked The Belgariad and The Mallorean. I read one of the later offshoots and struggled with it and never read more. The one book he co-wrote with his wife that I tried to read (it was more of an urban fantasy thing) was just plain horrible.

But it's always sad when an author dies and at that point is never able to add to their body of work, be it for better or worse. RIP, indeed.

Oh wow, I was just coming in this forum to ask about his Mallorean series- I'm about to read the last Belgariad book and was wondering if the Mallorean was just as good. It's so strange to hear of an author's death while you're reading his books. That was odd.
